No charge. Connecticut requires every municipality to give residents a free and convenient way to recycle covered electronic devices, which the state defines as computers, printers, televisions and monitors, with manufacturers financing the transportation and recycling. The City's collection day is a free event.

The 2026 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Blackham School, 425 Thorme Street, and it accepts laptops, computers, monitors, televisions and VCR or DVD players. The state publishes a town by town list of residential electronics collection locations for the rest of the year.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of both the green and blue toters, because the green toter refuses electronics and metal and the blue toter is for containers and paper only. Wipe personal data from a computer or drive before it leaves the property.
The green toter refuses hazardous and medical waste, flammable material, paint or any liquids, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, and electronics or metal, and the Transfer Station refuses items containing hazardous waste. The annual collection day takes the chemicals and the electronics, and waste oil and antifreeze go to the Weigh Master at the scale.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Ammunition, explosives, fire extinguishers, flares, tires, biological waste, needles and medicine are not taken at this event, and the page routes each of those to the police or fire department, Public Facilities, a contractor, a sharps container or a hospital.

Leaves, brush and grass clippings are mandatory recycling items in Connecticut and must not be mixed with garbage. Where do tires go in Bridgeport?+

What if I am clearing a whole house?+
The Transfer Station is the route for furniture, mattresses, appliances and separated metals, with mattresses and wood doors cut in half first.
