Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

Televisions, computers and other electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are refused in both toters, and Bridgeport's published route for televisions, computers, monitors and other devices is the City's annual household hazardous waste collection day, backed by Connecticut's electronics recycling law.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Connecticut requires every municipality to give residents a free and convenient way to recycle covered electronic devices, which the state defines as computers, printers, televisions and monitors, with manufacturers financing the transportation and recycling. The City's collection day is a free event.
When & how
The 2026 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Blackham School, 425 Thorme Street, and it accepts laptops, computers, monitors, televisions and VCR or DVD players. The state publishes a town by town list of residential electronics collection locations for the rest of the year.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of both the green and blue toters, because the green toter refuses electronics and metal and the blue toter is for containers and paper only. Wipe personal data from a computer or drive before it leaves the property.

Right item.
Right place.

Hazardous material never goes in the toters

The green toter refuses hazardous and medical waste, flammable material, paint or any liquids, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, and electronics or metal, and the Transfer Station refuses items containing hazardous waste. The annual collection day takes the chemicals and the electronics, and waste oil and antifreeze go to the Weigh Master at the scale.

For your Dropcurb pickup

City of Bridgeport Public Facilities Department

Use the household hazardous waste collection day

A household with paint, chemicals, batteries, automotive fluids, garden chemicals or electronics to dispose of.

Cost & conditions
No charge. The City's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is a free annual event, and Connecticut's electronics law requires a free residential collection route for covered devices.
Arrange it
Go to Blackham School at 425 Thorme Street on Saturday, September 26, 2026 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., or check the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection list of municipal collection days for other dates.

Ammunition, explosives, fire extinguishers, flares, tires, biological waste, needles and medicine are not taken at this event, and the page routes each of those to the police or fire department, Public Facilities, a contractor, a sharps container or a hospital.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Bridgeport runs its own Transfer Station at 475 Asylum Street, open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and free to City residents who bring a City ID or a utility bill, and that is the self haul route the City publishes. It takes household refuse, recyclables, wood and brush up to four feet long, bagged small debris, lawn clippings and leaves, separated metals, mattresses, furniture, appliances, up to two tires per trip, and waste oil and antifreeze that is free of contamination. Mattresses and wood doors have to be cut in half, leaves have to be in paper leaf bags only, and every load has to be covered and secured. The yard turns away chemicals, medical waste, toxic material, hazardous liquids, construction debris, cabinets, concrete, paint and paint products, sheetrock, roofing shingles, aluminum or vinyl siding, toilets and sinks, and the City sends those loads to All-American Waste at 80 Garfield Avenue in Stratford or City Carting at 221 Old Gate Lane in Milford. Paint has its own retail locations at Sherwin Williams on Glenwood Avenue and PPG Paints on Main Street. Hazardous material that the yard will not take goes to the City's annual household hazardous waste collection day, which in 2026 runs September 26 at Blackham School on Thorme Street, and the state maintains the list of other municipal collection days. Leaves also go out curbside in brown paper bags on the recycling day during leaf season, and logs and stumps have to be brought to the Transfer Station instead of being left at the curb. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Bridgeport.

How much does TV removal cost in Bridgeport?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Bridgeport?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Bridgeport?

To the City's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, which in 2026 runs Saturday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Blackham School, 425 Thorme Street, and accepts laptops, computers, monitors, televisions and VCR or DVD players. The state also publishes a town by town list of residential electronics collection locations.Official guidance

Why are televisions handled separately in Connecticut?

Connecticut's electronics recycling law covers computers, printers, televisions and monitors, requires municipalities to provide residents with a free and convenient way to recycle them, and has manufacturers finance the transportation and recycling. Retailers have to tell customers about the recycling options.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Bridgeport?

The City of Bridgeport's Public Facilities Department collects residential household trash and recycling through its Sanitation and Recycling Divisions, with collection transported to a regional intermediate processing center. The general contact line is 203-576-7130.Official guidance

How often are the toters collected?

Trash is collected every week from the green toter, and recycling is collected every other week from the blue toter on the same day as the trash. The green toter goes out up to 24 hours before the pickup and comes back in within 24 hours, and recycling goes out starting at 4 p.m. the day before.Official guidance

Does Bridgeport pick up large items at the curb?

No curbside bulky pickup is published by the City. The green toter refuses bulky items such as furniture and mattresses, and items placed outside the toter are a listed reason a toter is left behind. The City's route for large items is the Transfer Station on Asylum Street.Official guidance

How does yard waste go out?

Leaves, brush and grass clippings are mandatory recycling items in Connecticut and must not be mixed with garbage. The City runs brown bag leaf collection on the recycling day, taking leaves curbside by 6 a.m. in brown paper bags, lidless cans or open top cardboard boxes, and the Transfer Station takes leaves and yard debris at other times of year.Official guidance

Where do tires go in Bridgeport?

The Transfer Station accepts no more than two tires per trip, so a household set of four needs two visits. The City's household hazardous waste page says tires are not taken at the collection day and directs residents to Public Facilities at 203-576-7130 for disposal instructions.Official guidance

What if I am clearing a whole house?

The Transfer Station is the route for furniture, mattresses, appliances and separated metals, with mattresses and wood doors cut in half first. Construction material, cabinets, concrete, sheetrock, shingles, siding, toilets and sinks are refused there, so those loads go to All-American Waste in Stratford or City Carting in Milford, and hazardous material waits for the annual collection day.Official guidance
