Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Get it ready
Wipe personal data from a computer, phone or drive before it leaves the house, keep electronics out of the recycling and yard waste streams, and arrive in a residential passenger vehicle, because the recycling center takes residential plates only and commercial vehicles and trailers have to use the Scale House.
Stamford's Scale House and Transfer Station at 101 Harborview Avenue takes residential dumping Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., with up to 200 pounds a day free in a passenger vehicle and 6 dollars and 75 cents for each additional 100 pounds. The Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center at 130 Magee Avenue takes recycling, garbage and yard waste Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. but only from residential passenger vehicles: commercial vehicles, pickups, cars with trailers, rental trucks and vehicles with combination or commercial plates have to dump at the Scale House instead.
The city's recycling events at 55 Rock Rimmon Road run from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on published dates and are open only to Stamford residents. Each visit is one dump, capped at 200 pounds, with no trailers, rental trucks, commercial vehicles or combination plates, and air conditioners, humidifiers, tires and propane tanks are not accepted. Stamford residents take household hazardous waste to the city-sponsored hazardous waste recycling days, which rotate through neighbouring towns on a published 2026 schedule and include a Stamford day at Rippowam Middle School on 381 High Ridge Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The accepted list covers aerosols, ammonia, antifreeze, bleaches, brake fluid, drain and oven cleaners, gasoline, herbicides, home heating oil, mercury thermometers, moth balls, paint thinners, pesticides, photo and pool chemicals, sealants, smoke detectors, solvents, transmission fluid and wood preservatives, and the Stamford day also took used mattresses through the Mattress Recycling Council. Electronics, propane tanks and motor oil are instead recycled at the Katrina Mygatt Recycling Center.
