Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Hazardous materials of all kinds, including every fluorescent bulb, containers that held hazardous material, safes, aluminum siding, car parts, tires, rims, car batteries and automotive fluids are refused in the garbage and the recycling. Household chemicals go to the Westchester County facility in Valhalla by appointment, alkaline and carbon zinc batteries go in the regular trash, and other batteries go to the county, which the city hotline 914-813-5425 can explain.

City of New Rochelle Department of Public Works, Bureau of Sanitation

Book the Saturday television and monitor pickup

A household with a television, a computer monitor or a printer that cannot go out with the regular household trash.

Cost & conditions
No charge. New Rochelle residences with a Saturday appointment booked through the Department of Public Works on (914) 235-5830. The city publishes no per device charge for the household television, computer and printer collection.
Arrange it
Call (914) 235-5830 between 7 am and 3 pm before the Thursday of the collection week. The north end is collected on the second Saturday of the month and the south, east and west ends on the third Saturday, with the device at the curb by 7 am or 6 am in summer.

Only the appointment Saturday works for these items, so a television left out with the regular trash is not collected. Batteries, fluorescent bulbs and chemicals are not part of this route and go to the Westchester County facility instead.

Take household chemicals and batteries to the county facility

A household with paint, pesticides, pool or photo chemicals, kerosene, flammable liquids, wood preservatives, propane or helium tanks, mercury thermometers, pharmaceuticals, auto or rechargeable batteries, or fire extinguishers.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes the county address, the appointment rule and the accepted material list but no price, so confirm the appointment and any charge through the Westchester County recycling hotline on 914-813-5425 before driving to Valhalla.
Arrange it
Book an appointment about two weeks ahead on 914-813-5425 or through the county site, then bring the material to the Grasslands Campus at 15 Woods Road in Valhalla, open by appointment only Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm excluding holidays.

The county facility takes the material by appointment only, and the city's own chemical cleanup days have been discontinued, so nothing waits for a local event. Alkaline and carbon zinc batteries can go in the regular household trash, and radiological or medical waste goes through the county health department instead.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in New Rochelle is mostly an appointment question, because the city runs the curbside route and the county runs the problem materials. Household bulk, including a bagged and taped mattress, goes at the curb by 7 am on the scheduled collection day, or 6 am between Memorial Day and Labor Day, with no appointment. Appliances and metal items, including exercise machines, grills, tools and metal bed frames, are collected on Thursdays by appointment booked before noon on Tuesday through the Bureau of Sanitation, and a refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier or air conditioner needs the Freon removal permit sticker from the City Clerk's Office first, or a licensed contractor's own sticker after refrigerant removal. Televisions, computers and printers are collected by appointment on the second Saturday for the north end and the third Saturday for the south, east and west ends. Household chemicals, batteries other than alkaline and carbon zinc, propane and helium tanks, mercury thermometers, pharmaceuticals and fire extinguishers go to the Westchester County Household Material Recovery Facility at the Grasslands Campus, 15 Woods Road in Valhalla, by appointment only Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm, booked about two weeks ahead through the county hotline. Construction and demolition material has no city route at all: the city requires private disposal and publishes a courtesy list of facilities in Elmsford, Mount Vernon, West Harrison, Port Chester, Yonkers and New Rochelle that take debris, concrete, asphalt, dirt, rock or scrap metal, so call ahead for what each one accepts and what it charges. City of New Rochelle refuse and bulk removal guidelines with the 7:00 am curb deadline on the scheduled pickup day, the 6:00 am summer deadline between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the 32 gallon covered container or sturdy plastic bag rule, the 75 pound weight limit, the bar on commercial garbage, construction material, compressed gas tanks, motor oil, medical waste, rocks and dirt in the regular trash, the refusal of tires, rims and car batteries at the curb, and the no grass clippings rule with the leave it on the lawn direction from October to AprilCity of New Rochelle appliances and heavy metal items page with the Thursday by appointment only collection for washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, hot water heaters and all metal items, the holiday week suspension, the scheduling deadline before noon on the Tuesday before collection through (914) 235-4654 or (914) 235-5830, the scrap metal recycling note, the Freon removal permit requirement for refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners with 25 dollar stickers from the City Clerk's Office, the (914) 235-3593 scheduling line, the sticker placement instruction and the 7:00 am or 6:00 am summer curbside timeCity of New Rochelle televisions and computers page with the statement that televisions, computers and printers are not set out with regular household trash, the appointment only collection on the second and third Saturday of each month, the north end second Saturday and south, east and west ends third Saturday split, the (914) 235-5830 appointment line open 7:00 am to 3:00 pm with a Thursday deadline in the collection week, and the 7:00 am or 6:00 am summer curbside timeCity of New Rochelle hazardous and radiological waste page with the discontinued household chemical cleanup days, the Westchester County Household Material Recovery Facility in Valhalla taking household hazardous waste by advance appointment on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with 914-813-5425 for information, the county health department route for radiological and medical waste at (914) 813-5000, the return of radiological medication residuals to the treating facility and the sharps container requirementCity of New Rochelle construction debris collection facilities page presented as a courtesy list rather than an endorsement, naming private facilities and their materials with phone numbers: Brookfield Resource Management at 100 Lamont Street in Elmsford for scrap metals, paper and cardboard, Edison Ave. Recycle Materials at 41 Edison Avenue in Mount Vernon and Lake Street Granite Quarry at 600 Lake Street in West Harrison for concrete and asphalt, Metro Green at 100A Oak Street in Mount Vernon and Mount Vernon Recycling at 113 Edison Avenue in Mount Vernon for dirt, rock and concrete, M. How much does TV removal cost in New Rochelle?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?
