The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Do not bring mattresses or box springs, smoke detectors, ballasts or hazardous waste such as lighter fluid, liquids or paint, and remove anything left at the curb after a missed event, because tagged electronics must be taken back or a fine may follow.

Arrange it
Take the items to the city garage at 1 Collis Street between 8 a.m. and noon on a published drop-off day, stay in the vehicle, and let the workers unload.
Four days a year only, and batteries, refrigerant appliances, mattresses, box springs, smoke detectors, ballasts, paint and other hazardous waste are refused.
West Haven residents can self haul in three places. Bulk loads go to the New Haven Transfer Station at 260 Middletown Avenue, open 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Saturday, charged by weight with household trash and garbage bags refused, and the station also takes mattresses and box springs for a fee it quotes by phone. Household hazardous waste, oil based paint, batteries and propane tanks go free to HazWaste Central at 90 Sargent Drive in New Haven on Saturday mornings from mid May through October, with air conditioners and dehumidifiers refused there. Yard material can go to the compost site at 1 Kimberly Avenue, which takes untied brush and Christmas trees until January 15 but not logs or stumps. Residents stay in their vehicles while event workers remove the items, and no mattresses, box springs, smoke detectors, ballasts or hazardous waste such as lighter fluid, liquids or paint are accepted. Does my old TV have to work?+
Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
Where can I take a television in West Haven?+
To the city garage at 1 Collis Street from 8 a.m. to noon on one of the four e-waste drop-off days: February 21, April 25, June 13 and September 19 in 2026. Who collects rubbish and recycling in West Haven?+

Where do paint, chemicals and batteries go?+
HazWaste Central at 90 Sargent Drive in New Haven takes household hazardous waste, oil based paint, batteries and propane tanks free on Saturday mornings from mid May through October. Where do old tires go?+
Tires are refused as bulk trash and are taken at Town Fair Tire, 63 Boston Post Road in Orange, for a published fee per tire.Official guidance
When are Christmas trees collected?+
In January and February only, with lights removed and no plastic bags or stands, because the bags and decorations tangle the grinding machine. A pickup after February 15 carries a published fee, and residents can also take trees to the compost site at 1 Kimberly Avenue until January 15.Official guidance
