Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and demolition debris

Special rules apply

Construction debris is on the refused list for curbside bulky collection, and the town FAQ sends the question to the bulky page. The only published town route for a project material is clean fill and concrete rubble, which the Recycling Center accepts with a half cubic yard maximum drop-off.

City cost & eligibility
Clean fill and concrete rubble up to half a cubic yard are accepted free of additional charge at the Recycling Center for a permitted resident, and everything else from a project is refused at the curb. No other town disposal route or rate is published, so confirm the rest of the load with Public Works at 860-561-8100 or a private hauler.
When & how
Take clean fill and concrete rubble to 25 Brixton Street during the center's open hours, and keep construction material out of the bulky pile and out of the barrels.
Get it ready
Separate clean fill and concrete rubble from mixed construction debris, keep the clean material within the half cubic yard drop-off limit, and keep brick, concrete, sheetrock, plaster, stone, ceiling tiles, insulation, vinyl siding and construction debris out of the curbside bulky pile, because all of them are refused there.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

West Hartford residents self haul to the Yard Waste and Recycling Center at 25 Brixton Street with a permit that costs $20.00 a year for a passenger vehicle, SUV, crossover or minivan, $30.00 with a trailer, $50.00 for a pickup truck or full size van, $70.00 with a trailer, or $25.00 for a one day pass, and a permit holder can drop mattresses and box springs, electronics, paint, textiles, scrap metal, books, brush, clean fill and concrete rubble free of additional charge. Household hazardous waste does not go there: the town uses the MDC regional collection days instead, including two West Hartford dates at the Public Works Garage on 17 Brixton Street during 2026. Curbside bulky, metal and appliance collection runs through All American Waste with a permit bought online or by phone and a collection scheduled with the hauler. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in West Hartford.

How much does construction debris removal cost in West Hartford?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in West Hartford?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Where does construction debris go in West Hartford?

Not in a curbside bulky pile: construction debris, brick, concrete, sheetrock, plaster, stone and vinyl siding are all on the refused list for that program. The town does accept clean fill and concrete rubble at the Recycling Center with a maximum drop-off of half a cubic yard for a permitted resident, and anything else needs a call to Public Works at 860-561-8100 or a private hauler.Official guidance
