Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.

When & how

Get it ready
Take off loose weights, pedals and straps, fold the frame where it allows it, and keep any console or battery separate so nothing with a battery goes into a barrel. Keep the machine out of the street and out of the refuse and recycling barrels while the route is confirmed.
Buy the permit first and schedule the collection with All American Waste, because a permit that is not scheduled is not a collection. Bulky permits have to be bought and scheduled by 2 p.m. on the Tuesday before the Wednesday collection day, and the material may not be at the curb more than 24 hours early or later than 6 a.m. on the collection day. Report the items accurately when the permit is bought, because no refund is issued if the pile does not match the description.

The permit price is not published on the town bulky waste page, so confirm the current fee with All American Waste at 860-289-7850. Payment is by credit or debit card only.
Arrange it
Buy the permit online or by phone, then call All American Waste to schedule. Bulky permits must be bought and scheduled by 2 p.m. on the Tuesday before the Wednesday collection day.
One permit covers up to three cubic yards, a mattress, box spring or appliance each needs its own permit, no more than three appliances are collected at one address in a week, construction debris, brick, concrete, tires, electronics, styrofoam and bagged trash are refused, and no refund is issued without a cancellation confirmed by the hauler before 4 p.m. on the business day before collection.
West Hartford residents self haul to the Yard Waste and Recycling Center at 25 Brixton Street with a permit that costs $20.00 a year for a passenger vehicle, SUV, crossover or minivan, $30.00 with a trailer, $50.00 for a pickup truck or full size van, $70.00 with a trailer, or $25.00 for a one day pass, and a permit holder can drop mattresses and box springs, electronics, paint, textiles, scrap metal, books, brush, clean fill and concrete rubble free of additional charge. Household hazardous waste does not go there: the town uses the MDC regional collection days instead, including two West Hartford dates at the Public Works Garage on 17 Brixton Street during 2026.
