Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Couches, chairs, tables, carpeting, padding and fencing go out during the two designated bulk pickup weeks, limited to six cubic yards per collection.
Mattresses and box springs are refused as bulk trash and move instead through a paid bag bought from Public Works or a drop-off for a fee.
Microwaves and small appliances are accepted at the free e-waste drop-offs, while batteries and anything containing refrigerant are refused as hazardous waste.
Electronic recyclables are accepted free at four drop-off days a year at the city garage, and televisions and microwaves are both on the list.
Building, remodeling, landscaping and excavating material is refused at the curb, and a resident or contractor has to provide a dumpster at their own expense.
Exercise equipment is not named on the bulk item list or the e-waste list, so the machine has to be confirmed with Public Works before it goes out.
The handoff matters
Bulk trash is collected on the regular collection day during the April and September bulk weeks, kept to six cubic yards and six feet per item, separated and orderly, and never inside a trash can. Keep the pile away from mailboxes, utility poles and fences, and put out only material you generated at the address, because items from elsewhere and piles in front of a vacant lot are not collected.
