Appliances are accepted but on a different instruction from the rest of the bulky route: the city says to call in to schedule an appliance pickup, on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. The Community Clean-up, by contrast, states plainly that appliances will not be collected at the event and should go out with the regularly scheduled collection instead.

When & how

Furniture and mattresses ride the second garbage day; appliances do not
Furniture, mattresses and box springs go out on the second garbage day of the week without a call, within three to four large items per household and with holiday weeks excluded. Appliances follow a different instruction: call in to schedule appliance pickup, which the city runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Take the doors off a refrigerator or freezer before it is collected, and do not add an appliance to the bulky load or to the Community Clean-up pile, because that event refuses appliances.
The Community Clean-up has its own dates, weight limit and refusal list
The twice-yearly Community Clean-up takes steel, taped glass, lumber, wallboard, small home improvements, roofing material, pipe, large tree stumps and up to six yards of yard waste, with everything curbside before 7 a.m. on the event day and haulers who will not return for late items. Nothing in a container may weigh more than fifty pounds. Appliances and ordinary household garbage are refused at the event and should go out with the regular collection, and paint, tires and household hazardous waste are refused too and belong at the county transfer station instead.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
