Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Furniture and other large household items go to the curb on the regular collection day with no appointment, and the City treats about four to five furniture sized pieces as an appropriate curbside load.
A mattress or box spring is a large household item, so it rides with the weekly bulk collection on the regular service day instead of being scheduled separately.
Washers, dryers and other large appliances are part of the weekly program, but the City asks for a call ahead so the pickup is recorded before the appliance goes to the curb.
Small electronics go in the black barrel, an item too big for the barrel needs a special pickup, and anything with a rechargeable battery that cannot be removed goes to a county drop-off instead.
The City refuses construction, remodeling and demolition material at the curb in every collection, so the route is the county disposal complex or a permitted private hauler.
Exercise machines are not on the City's named example list, so the pickup has to be confirmed with the solid waste line before the equipment goes to the curb.
The handoff matters
Bulk items and yard waste are collected once a week on the regular service day, should not go to the curb more than 24 hours before it, and have to be there by 7 a.m. Keep both piles clear of overhead wires, trees, poles, mailboxes and vehicles, and keep yard waste and junk separate from each other. Bag or box smaller junk such as dishes, lamps, clothing, magazines and books so the crew can handle it.
