Two views of the same room corner: a treadmill on the left, and a small desk and chair in its place on the right.
A new use for the same space, once the old machine is outside and gone.

Room for what comes next

Your space can have a new purpose.

A home office. Room for a guest. A little more floor to enjoy. When an old machine is in the way, a clear pickup plan makes the next step easier.

The room is changing.

Book the equipment you are ready to let go of, whether it is one exercise bike or several machines. See the total before making the plan.

A replacement is coming.

Check whether your retailer includes removal. If the old treadmill is still your responsibility, give it a pickup day of its own.

It is not making the move.

Settle the price online, arrange to have it outside, and follow the pickup through text updates and completion photos. One less thing to coordinate before the keys change hands.

Match the machine

The right choice covers the right equipment.

Choose by the type of equipment. A brand name does not mean a different item, but a walking pad and a full treadmill do.

Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?

Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.

An exercise bike, elliptical or rower

Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.

Weights, racks and benches

Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Ready for pickup

Plan the move outside before pickup day.

A machine can be too heavy or awkward for a solo move. Arrange suitable help for indoor carrying, stairs or any dismantling needed to reach the outdoor pickup spot.

A pickup day is not an exact arrival window. Tell us before booking about a shared loading area, restricted outdoor access or equipment whose size or setup you are unsure how to select.

Your place. One easy pickup plan.

A house, a condo or an apartment. Choose an accessible outdoor spot that works for your property. You arrange the move outside; we take it from there.

Text us about your setup
  1. Check the route and the model.

Measure doors and turns, and check the manufacturer’s moving instructions. Folding and moving methods vary by model. Have any required disassembly handled before pickup; we start outside.

  2. Book a day you can be ready.

Choose from the available pickup dates before moving the machine out. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Book by 2pm at the pickup address for same-day pickup.

  3. Make the equipment easy to identify.

Place the booked equipment in an accessible outdoor spot. Keep any separated parts together, add a photo and clear location notes to your order, and leave the approach clear.

Furniture and larger household items

Accepted with preparation

Furniture is the City's example of a household item collected on the weekly trash route, with a published fee for each piece and a late-evening set-out rule.

City cost & eligibility
$50 for the published fee for each item of furniture collected as a bulk household item. Single-family homes in Coral Gables that place the piece outside after 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled trash collection day. Appliances are collected for the same per item fee but have to be scheduled in advance.
When & how
Put the furniture outside after 6 p.m. the night before the scheduled trash collection day, which runs once a week on Monday through Friday depending on the address.
Get it ready
Set the piece in the swale or trash pit in front of the property rather than on the sidewalk or in the driveway, keep it clear of trees and utilities, and keep construction material, paint and chemicals out of the load because the City refuses them on this route.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Yard debris can go out early, household items cannot

The trash pit sits in the swale in front of the property, at least five feet from any tree and never on top of a drain, water meter or other utility. Yard debris may be placed out before the collection day, but household items and plastic bags holding organic matter may only go out after 6 p.m. the night before, and cardboard never goes in a pit at all.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Coral Gables runs its own collection for single-family homes and sends multi-family and commercial properties, including duplexes, to Waste Management of Dade County at 786-450-5699. A single-family household hauls only what the household routes refuse. Household chemical products such as paint cans, unbroken compact fluorescent bulbs, pesticides and pool chemicals go to one of the two Miami-Dade County Home Chemical Collection Centers, West-Dade at 8801 NW 58 Street in Doral, which the city's two pages print as 8801 and 8831, so confirm that number on 305-514-6666, or South-Dade at 23707 SW 97th Ave in Homestead, both open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a call to 305-514-6666 first because the centers are not always accepting material. Electronics, other hazardous items and clothing go to the City's bi-annual recycling drive-thru event in the city hall parking lot. Used sharps go to the police and fire headquarters at 2151 Salzedo Street on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in a sealed and labelled rigid container, and batteries and plastic bags go to the city drop-off locations rather than any bin.
