The local disposal guide

Will the city
take it?

Ocoee collects residential household, recycling, yard waste and bulk items with city crews. Trash and recycling each get one 95 gallon cart within three feet of the curb, bulk items are limited to four cubic yards, which is about the size of a small pickup bed, and yard waste is capped at four cubic yards or ten lawn bags of 50 pounds or less. Everything goes out the night before or by 6 a.m. on the service day, and the cart service runs as usual on every holiday except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. White goods go out as their own category with the Freon and any door locks removed from refrigeration units, flat screen televisions can ride with the bulk pile while tube televisions cannot, and limited construction debris is only collected at the curb for a fee. Household chemicals, paint, batteries and electronics go to Orange County, which takes them free at its collection sites and events and lists furniture inside its construction and demolition category at the landfill on Young Pine Road.

Weekly trash and recycling carts

Accepted with preparation

City crews collect residential household waste and recycling in one 95 gallon cart each, with recycling picked up every other Wednesday.

City cost & eligibility
The city pages retrieved here publish the collection limits and the holiday schedule but no residential cart rate, so confirm the monthly charge and the account details with Public Works at 407-905-3170.
When & how
Carts go curbside after 7 p.m. the night before collection but before 6 a.m. on the day itself. The only holidays without residential collection are Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, and each is caught up on the following Saturday.
Get it ready
Keep trash to what fits inside the 95 gallon cart and place the cart within three feet of the curb, with the same rule for recycling. Yard waste never goes in the trash or recycling cart, and household chemicals, electronics, paint and batteries never go in either cart.
City sanitation page with the residential service scope, the cart set out window, the reporting channels and the holiday scheduleTrash collection bill insert with the trash, recycle, yard waste, bulk and white goods limits and the construction debris fee note

Bulk item collection

Accepted with preparation

Bulk items are collected at the curb up to four cubic yards at a time, within three feet of the curb, with flat screen televisions allowed and tube televisions refused.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. The city publishes the bulk limit of four cubic yards at one time rather than a per item charge, so the collection is part of the residential service, while limited construction debris is the one category the flyer says will only be collected for a fee and no amount is published.
When & how
Bulk items go out the night before or by 6 a.m. on the day of service, within three feet of the curb, and no more than four cubic yards is picked up at one time.
Get it ready
The published limit is three feet long by six feet wide by six feet high, which the city compares to a small pickup bed. Flat screen televisions may be included, but a tube television must not be put out, and an unusual or oversize piece should be confirmed with Public Works at 407-905-3170 because the city publishes limits rather than an item list.

Couches, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Furniture moves as bulk material inside the city's four cubic yard limit, and the county landfill also lists furniture inside its construction and demolition category.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Furniture is bulk waste within the four cubic yard curbside limit, which the city includes in the residential service rather than pricing per item. A load beyond that goes to the county landfill, where furniture is listed inside the construction and demolition category at the published per ton rate.
When & how
Put the furniture within three feet of the curb, out the night before or by 6 a.m. on the service day, and keep the pile inside the four cubic yard limit.
Get it ready
Keep the pile within three feet of the curb and inside the limit, and call Public Works at 407-905-3170 before setting out an oversized sectional or a group of pieces, because the city publishes limits rather than a named furniture list.

A load beyond the limit goes to the Orange County Landfill, where furniture and similar material falls into the construction and demolition category at the per ton rate.
When & how
Set the mattress within three feet of the curb, out the night before or by 6 a.m. on the service day.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry, count it inside the four cubic yard limit, and call Public Works at 407-905-3170 if a set is being added to a pile that is already close to the limit.

White goods and refrigeration units

Accepted with preparation

White goods are a separate curbside category with no container required, and the Freon and any door locks have to be removed from refrigeration units first.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. White goods are collected as their own curbside category with no container provided, and the city publishes no per item charge. A freon containing device that is not prepared for the curb can be taken to the Orange County Landfill during operating hours for a minimum charge of 9.00.
When & how
White goods go out the night before or by 6 a.m. on the day of service, in the open rather than in a cart.
Get it ready
Remove the Freon and any door locks from a refrigeration unit before it goes out, keep the unit upright and empty, and have the delivery company remove an old appliance when a new one is installed, because the county states that freon containing devices are not picked up curbside.
Trash collection bill insert with the trash, recycle, yard waste, bulk and white goods limits and the construction debris fee noteOrange County household hazardous waste page with the free collection sites and events, the hazardous material categories, the electronics guidance and the freon appliance rule

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Flat screen televisions can go out with the bulk pile, tube televisions cannot, and everything else with a circuit board goes to an Orange County collection site or event.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. A flat screen television is included in the curbside bulk limit at no separate city charge, and Orange County Utilities offers household hazardous waste and electronics disposal free of charge at its community collection events and county drop off locations.
When & how
Put a flat screen television within three feet of the curb with the bulk pile, out the night before or by 6 a.m., or take electronics to a county drop off or collection event, and call the county hotline at 407-836-6601 for the nearest option.
Get it ready
Do not put electronics in the recycling cart, because anything with a circuit board counts as electronic waste, and do not put a tube television out for pickup. Remove personal data before a computer leaves your hands, and note that a rear projection television cannot be recycled and is instead handled as a large curbside item.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

Exercise equipment is not named in the city's published limits, so the machine has to be confirmed before it goes out.

City cost & eligibility
No published rate covers an exercise machine and the city publishes size limits rather than an item list, so call Public Works at 407-905-3170 and ask whether the machine fits the four cubic yard bulk limit before it goes to the curb.
When & how
Call 407-905-3170 with the machine type and size, and set it out only if it fits the bulk limit.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it will come apart and keep the loose weights with it, and keep the pile within three feet of the curb and inside the four cubic yard limit.

Construction and demolition debris

Special rules apply

Limited construction debris is collected at the curb only for a fee, and a larger project load goes to the Orange County Landfill at the published construction rate.

City cost & eligibility
From $41.1 for the county rate per ton for construction and demolition debris at the Orange County Landfill, effective October 1, 2025. The county charges 41.10 per ton for construction and demolition debris, which it defines to include clean fill, asphalt, broken concrete, wood, nonputrescible waste and furniture, with a 9.00 minimum charge, and that category is only accepted at the landfill rather than at the transfer stations. Construction debris at the Ocoee curb is collected only for a fee that the city does not publish, so Public Works quotes it at 407-905-3170.
When & how
For a small amount, call Public Works at 407-905-3170 for the curbside fee, and for a larger load drive to the Orange County Landfill at 5901 Young Pine Road, open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for non account customers and closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Get it ready
Keep construction material out of the trash and recycling carts and inside the fee arrangement for the curb, and separate concrete, asphalt and wood from mixed debris before the landfill trip so the load lands in the right category.
