Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

The Villages schedules bulk pickups by district, strictly limited to five items per pickup. The district's scheduled list covers furniture, appliances, televisions, electronics, exercise equipment, grills and lawn mowers, plus minor remodeling debris that the homeowner generated.
City cost & eligibility
$10 for added to the monthly One-Bill for each bulk pickup requested in Districts 1 through 11, while Districts 12 through 15 are not charged an additional fee. Residents of the Villages Community Development Districts who schedule with the correct district number: 352-748-0109 for Districts 1 through 11 and 352-750-0000 for Districts 12 through 15. The District may assess additional fees when a pickup exceeds the policy limits, needs special handling or comes from contractor work.
When & how
Call the district number for the address to schedule, then put the items out for the pickup day the district gives. The limit is five items, and a sixth item needs its own pickup and fee.
Get it ready
Keep the load to five items, put small household items, ceiling fans with the blades taken off and throw rugs in the ordinary household waste instead, and leave wall-to-wall carpet or padding out because it is not collected. Keep contractor-generated debris out of the pile entirely, since the district refuses construction material and commercial lawn debris from hired companies.
Furniture is named in the district's scheduled bulk list, with oversized chairs as the published example, so a couch leaves on a scheduled bulk pickup rather than in the household waste.
City cost & eligibility
$10 for added to the One-Bill for each bulk pickup requested in Districts 1 through 11, with no additional fee in Districts 12 through 15. Villages residents scheduling with the district phone number for the address, within the five item limit, with additional fees possible for over-limit or special handling loads.
When & how
Call 352-748-0109 for Districts 1 through 11 or 352-750-0000 for Districts 12 through 15 to schedule, then set the piece out for the assigned pickup day.
Get it ready
Count the piece against the five item limit, keep it out of the household waste bundle, and do not add carpet or padding, which is not collected on this route. Small decorative pieces and throw rugs go in the ordinary household waste instead.
Mattresses and box springs are named directly in the district's scheduled bulk list as part of the furniture examples, so bedding is one of the clearest routes in this packet.
City cost & eligibility
$10 for added to the One-Bill for each bulk pickup requested in Districts 1 through 11, with no additional fee in Districts 12 through 15. Villages residents scheduling the pickup with the district number for the address and staying inside the five item limit.
When & how
Schedule the pickup with the district phone number for the address, and count the mattress and the box spring as separate items against the five item limit.
Get it ready
Keep the units dry and out of the ordinary household waste bundle, and remember that wall-to-wall carpet or padding cannot ride the same route, so leave those out of the pile.
Appliances are named in the district's scheduled bulk list, with washer, dryer, dishwasher and refrigerator given as the examples, so a large appliance is a scheduled pickup rather than a household waste item.
City cost & eligibility
$10 for added to the One-Bill for each bulk pickup requested in Districts 1 through 11, with no additional fee in Districts 12 through 15. Villages residents inside the five item limit, scheduling with the district number for the address. Special handling can carry an extra charge at the District's discretion.
When & how
Call the district phone number for the address to schedule, then put the unit out on the assigned pickup day.
Get it ready
Empty the unit and secure the doors, and keep it out of the ordinary household waste. Refrigerators belong on the same scheduled route, so no separate refrigerant arrangement is published by the district.
Flat-screen televisions, computers, monitors and stereo equipment are all named in the district's scheduled bulk list, and Sumter County's Amnesty Day events take household electronics along with hazardous material.
City cost & eligibility
$10 for added to the One-Bill for each bulk pickup requested in Districts 1 through 11, while Districts 12 through 15 carry no additional fee on the district route and the county's Amnesty Day events are free. Villages residents on the district bulk route within the five item limit, or Sumter County residents at the mobile Amnesty Day collections on the published dates.
When & how
Schedule the bulk pickup with the district number for the address, or use the county's Amnesty Day events, which run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 15, 2026 at the Sumter County Citizen's Drop off Area and November 7, 2026 at Lake Okahumpka Park.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, keep electronics out of the ordinary household waste bundle, and at an Amnesty Day event do not mix chemicals, keep products in labelled containers and carry the boxes in the trunk or the back of the vehicle away from passengers.
Exercise equipment is named directly in the district's scheduled bulk list, so a treadmill or weight machine follows the same five item pickup route as furniture and appliances.
City cost & eligibility
$10 for added to the One-Bill for each bulk pickup requested in Districts 1 through 11, with no additional fee in Districts 12 through 15. Villages residents scheduling with the district number for the address and staying inside the five item limit.
When & how
Call the district phone number for the address, then set the machine out on the assigned pickup day.
Get it ready
Break the machine down so it can be handled, keep it out of the ordinary household waste, and count it as one of the five items along with anything else going out in the same pickup.
Bulk pickups are scheduled by district and capped at five items
Bulk pickup is scheduled by phone for the district the address sits in, and the limit is strictly five items per pickup, with a sixth item requiring its own pickup and fee. Districts 1 through 11 add ten dollars to the monthly One-Bill each time a pickup is requested and schedule at 352-748-0109, while Districts 12 through 15 are not charged an additional fee and schedule at 352-750-0000. The District may add charges for loads that exceed policy limits, need special handling or came from contractor work.
Small items go in the ordinary household waste instead
Small household items, ceiling fans with the blades removed and throw rugs can go out with the regular household waste pickup, so they do not need to use one of the five bulk slots. Wall-to-wall carpeting and padding are not collected at all, and appliances, furniture, televisions, electronics, exercise equipment, grills and lawn mowers all have to be scheduled.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
