The local disposal guide
Wesley Chapel is unincorporated Pasco County, and the county does not pick up trash. A household signs up with one of the licensed haulers for twice a week garbage and weekly recycling, or contracts a dumpster, and anything large goes either to the hauler or straight to a county facility. The county runs two self haul sites, the West Pasco Resource Recovery drop off on Hays Road in Spring Hill and the East Pasco Transfer Station on Handcart Road in Dade City, both open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with proof of residency required. The price list is itemized: furniture, yard waste, construction debris at the west site only and mixed loads are all charged per ton, refrigerators and air conditioners are three dollars each, residential metal is free unless it is mixed, car and pickup tires are two dollars each, and up to eight bags of household trash a day are free. Household chemicals and electronics go through the hazardous waste collection at the same two addresses, where paint, motor oil, gasoline, batteries and fluorescent lamps are free within daily limits while a laptop or a small television costs five dollars and a large or projection television costs ten.

The handoff matters

The county keeps the hauler list and sets the maximum dumpster charges by size and frequency.
