Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Bulk items and special pickups

Accepted with preparation

Single family homes get a weekly bulk collection with up to three items at the curb per bulk day, and the city names what counts: tables and chairs, gym equipment, household items, mattresses and box springs, large child's toys, barbecue grills, sofas and large or small appliances. More than three items needs a special pickup that is scheduled and charged.

City cost & eligibility
No separate rate is published for the three item weekly bulk service, and the city states only that a set of more than three items requires a special pickup for a fee arranged through customer service or the public works email. Because the charge is quoted by the office and the service is part of the household's paid collection, the cost for a particular set is confirmed before it goes to the curb.
When & how
Bulk items are collected once a week on the household's bulk day, which the interactive pickup schedule publishes, with the set out so it does not interfere with the garbage, recycling or yard waste collection. A set of more than three items is arranged in advance by email or telephone.
Get it ready
Keep to three items unless a special pickup has been booked, and keep everything else off the pile: miscellaneous garbage belongs in the garbage can, and building materials, commercially generated waste, propane or water tanks and drums, vehicle equipment, wood fencing, decks and concrete are all refused. Construction material is never part of the regular bulk service, and hazardous material is never collected at all.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

West Palm Beach collects electronics at the curb as e-scrap inside the bulk service. The printed list covers computers, laptops, monitors, printer, scanner and fax machines, gaming systems, televisions, all telephones, VCR and DVD players and microwaves, so a television or computer does not need a separate county trip.

City cost & eligibility
Electronics travel with the weekly bulk service, which has no separately published rate, and the only published charge is the quoted special pickup fee when a household puts out more than three items. Because the boundary between a device and an item matters here, the office confirms how a set of devices is counted before it goes to the curb.
When & how
Set the equipment out on the household's weekly bulk day with the rest of the bulk set, inside the three item limit or with a special pickup booked in advance. A county Home Chemical and Recycling Center also accepts electronics, which avoids waiting for the bulk day. Do not mix electronics into the yard waste pile.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before a computer, laptop, phone or game system leaves the house. Keep the devices out of the garbage can, because the bulk route refuses miscellaneous garbage that belongs there, and keep them away from the vegetation pile, because yard waste may not be mixed with any other items.

Three bulk items on the bulk day, appliances handled separately

A single family home can put up to three bulk items at the curb on its weekly bulk day, drawn from the city's named categories of tables and chairs, gym equipment, household items, mattresses and box springs, large child's toys, barbecue grills, sofas and large or small appliances. More than three items needs a special pickup scheduled for a fee in advance. Appliances go out with doors removed and every glass door taped diagonally from corner to corner, and a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner that holds Freon goes out only on the vegetation day, placed next to the vegetation pile and never mixed into it.

City yard waste and bulk rules

What the city will not take at all

The bulk route refuses miscellaneous garbage that belongs in the household can, building materials, commercially generated waste, propane or water tanks and any kind of drum, vehicle equipment, wood fencing, decks and concrete, and moving boxes outside the one-time courtesy collection. Construction material is never collected as part of regular service, though the city can take it on request at an additional fee, and a contractor or homeowner has to dispose of project material at the county authority's landfill or a permitted facility. Hazardous material of any kind is not allowed, and the city names paint, pesticides, oil, batteries and propane tanks as examples.

City of West Palm Beach Public Works Solid Waste, with the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County

Put up to three bulk items out on the bulk day

A West Palm Beach single family household with furniture, a mattress, an appliance, gym equipment, electronics or another item from the city's bulk list.

Cost & conditions
The weekly bulk service carries no separately published rate, and the city charges only through the special pickup it arranges when a household puts out more than three items. Because that fee is quoted by the office and the service is part of the paid collection, the cost for a particular set is confirmed with customer service rather than presented as free.
Arrange it
Set the items out on the household's bulk day, which the interactive pickup schedule publishes, so they do not interfere with the garbage, recycling or yard waste collection. A Freon appliance goes out on the vegetation day instead, beside the vegetation pile.

Three items per household on the bulk day, with a booked and charged special pickup for anything larger. Miscellaneous garbage, building materials, commercially generated waste, tanks and drums, vehicle equipment, fencing, decks and concrete are all refused, and hazardous material is never collected.

Schedule a special pickup beyond three items

A West Palm Beach household with more than three bulk items, or a set the bulk day limit cannot take.

Cost & conditions
The city states that more than three bulk items requires a special pickup that can be scheduled for a fee, without publishing the amount, so the price is quoted by the office when the pickup is booked.
Arrange it
Email public works or call customer service on the Solid Waste number to schedule the special pickup, and set the material out for the day the office confirms.

The special pickup is for bulk material the city accepts, so refused categories such as hazardous material, tanks and drums, vehicle equipment and commercially generated waste cannot be moved into it.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

West Palm Beach runs its own garbage, yard waste and bulk services with pickups scheduled Monday through Saturday, and the bulk route is the city's main answer for large items. A single family home can set up to three bulk items at the curb on its weekly bulk day, and the city names the categories, including tables and chairs, sofas, gym equipment, mattresses and box springs, large and small appliances, and the electronics group of computers, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, fax machines, televisions, telephones, microwave ovens, game systems, VCR and DVD players. Anything larger needs a special pickup scheduled for a fee through the office. Appliances go out with doors removed and glass doors taped diagonally, and a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner that holds Freon is the one item that goes out on the vegetation day, beside the vegetation pile and never mixed into it. Vegetation itself is one pile of up to ten cubic yards, with bagged clippings, limbs cut to four feet and stumps no wider than twelve inches, and once a year before hurricane season the amnesty lifts the size limit at no charge. Construction material is never collected as part of regular service, though the city will take it at an additional fee on request, and project material can go to the county authority's landfill. Household chemicals and other hazardous waste never go at the curb at all, because the authority states there is no curbside collection for them: residents drop them free at one of the county's seven Home Chemical and Recycling Centers, including the center on Jog Road in West Palm Beach, which also takes electronics, batteries and propane, with published caps on gasoline, oil and bulbs. Aerosol cans that are not empty, ammunition, flares and fireworks, automotive fluids and filters, batteries including lithium, button, rechargeable, automotive and marine, boating-related waste, electronics, fluorescent tubes, CFLs and other mercury-containing devices, household cleaners, paints, stains, glues and solvents, pesticides and fertilizers, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, propane and compressed gas cylinders, rubbing alcohol and used cooking oil.

Commercial or industrial waste needs very small quantity generator approval, and electric vehicle batteries, empty containers, explosives, garbage or trash, prescription medication and pharmaceuticals, radioactive waste, and sharps or medical waste are all refused. Quantity caps apply: thirty gallons of gasoline at this center and the western Delray Beach center against ten gallons at the others, twenty-five gallons of oil, and ten fluorescent bulbs. Alkaline batteries belong in the garbage while lithium batteries must come here, and tires are not accepted.

This center and the Southwest County center in Delray Beach are the two that return an empty gasoline container to the customer. This center is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the authority publishes each center's full hours on its facilities pages.

No charge. Free to Palm Beach County residents, in the same terms the authority publishes for all seven Home Chemical and Recycling Centers. Commercial or industrial waste is outside this free residential route without very small quantity generator approval.

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Can I get same-day TV pickup in West Palm Beach?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?
