Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste is on the city's allowed refuse list, so a screen or a tower can ride the biweekly curbside allowance, and the county also takes electronics at its Old Dixie Highway site only.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Residential premises eligible for city refuse collection with advance authorization and the homeowner doing the work, inside the two cubic yard allowance, or Whitfield County residents dropping electronics at the Old Dixie Highway convenience center.
When & how
Use the city's authorized curbside collection on the address's collection week, or drop electronics at the Old Dixie Highway location, which is the only county site that takes them.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, keep electronics out of the recycling bin, and keep batteries and anything hazardous out of the same pile, because the city refuses those at the curb and the county handles chemicals at its monthly hazardous waste day instead.

Get authorization before the refuse pile goes out

Since August 17, 2020, Dalton residents must have advance authorization to put rubbish or refuse out for collection, either by calling Dalton Public Works or by filing a request through SeeClickFix online or in the mobile app. The free allowance is two cubic yards, about a long-bed pickup truck bed, every two weeks, the pickup alternates between the northern and southern halves of the city, and the work has to be the homeowner's own because a private contractor must dispose of its material itself.

The county handles what the city refuses

Whitfield County's four staffed convenience centers take household garbage in bags, yard trimmings, scrap metal, bulky items and recyclables, with a transportation fee averaging five dollars per bulky item at three of the locations and no fee at the Old Dixie Highway site. Construction and home remodeling waste is accepted only at the Old Dixie Highway landfill and priced per ton, electronics are accepted only at that same location, and household chemicals wait for the monthly hazardous waste day on the third Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Use the authorized curbside refuse collection

A single-family home or small multi-family property in Dalton with furniture, a mattress, white goods, electronics, dried paint, bicycles or similar items.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Residential premises eligible for city collection, with advance authorization from Dalton Public Works or through SeeClickFix, limited to two cubic yards every two weeks and to work the homeowner does personally.
Arrange it
Request authorization, then put the pile out for the collection week that applies to the address, since the city alternates between the north and south halves each week.

Construction material, tires, liquid paint, batteries, hazardous items, cardboard and loose packing material cannot go in the pile, apartments receive no refuse pickup, and the two cubic yard limit applies every two weeks.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Dalton's own route is the curb, on a free allowance of two cubic yards every two weeks with advance authorization, alternating between the north and south halves of the city, and covering furniture, mattresses and box springs, white goods, electronic waste, dried paint and bicycles. Anything the city refuses goes to Whitfield County: the four staffed convenience centers take bagged garbage, yard trimmings, scrap metal, bulky items and recyclables, with a transportation fee averaging five dollars per bulky item at the Westside, M.L. King and McGaughey Chapel centers and no bulky fee at the Old Dixie Highway site. The Old Dixie Highway landfill and convenience center at 4189 Old Dixie Hwy is also the only county site that accepts construction and home remodeling waste, priced per ton with a generation form for contractor loads, and the only site that takes electronics; tires are limited to four per customer per day at the other centers and ten at Old Dixie. Household chemicals wait for the county's hazardous waste day on the third Saturday of the month from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a 220 pound per vehicle limit and items in original labelled containers. County landfill and the only convenience center that takes construction material and electronics

Old Dixie Highway Landfill and Convenience Center

4189 Old Dixie Hwy, Dalton, GA

Household garbage in bags, yard trimmings, scrap metal, bulky items such as mattresses, sofas and bookshelves, recyclables, electronics, construction and home remodeling waste, bulk tires, and household chemicals on the monthly hazardous waste day.

Whitfield County residents only, with additional fees for out of county visitors and a ten bag limit on household garbage per trip. Construction and home remodeling waste is accepted only here, contractor and clean out loads need the county generation form, tires are limited to four per customer per day except at this site where the limit is ten, and bulky loads may be redirected here when another center's container is full.

The site follows the county's published convenience center hours, and the household hazardous waste day runs on the third Saturday of the month from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bulky items carry no transportation fee at this location, while construction and home remodeling waste is priced at $46.25 per ton and bulk tires at $200 per ton, so confirm the material and the amount with the county at 706-277-2545 before hauling.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Dalton.

How much does TV removal cost in Dalton?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Dalton?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
