Mattresses are named on the paid curbside bulk list, but the city dumpster site explicitly refuses them, so a mattress cannot go to the drop-off with other bulky material.
City cost & eligibility
$65 per curbside bulk pickup request of up to two items, which the city lists mattresses in. City of Duluth residents, arranged and paid for in advance with Republic Services at 678.963.2873. The dumpster site does not accept mattresses.
When & how
Call Republic Services at 678.963.2873 to pay for the bulk request, or ask City Hall at 770.476.3434 about the Richland Creek Landfill at 770.271.3575 for a self-haul trip.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and out of the trash and recycling carts, and do not take it to the Public Works dumpster site because mattresses are excluded there.
The curbside bulk service is paid, so call Republic Services at 678.963.2873 and settle the charge before the items go to the curb. Auto parts, tires and rebuilding or remodeling material are refused on that route.

Duluth residents in the city limits can drop bulky items and yard debris at the Public Works dumpster site on 2450 Main Street with an annual Dumpster Card, which covers twelve trips before a charge applies, and the site excludes mattresses and does not help unload a vehicle.
