No charge. No charge on the appointment based Wednesday bulk collection within the five item and forty pound limits, and appliances are among the items the county landfill accepts for a scale fee that starts at $40 per load for a light pickup or car without a trailer.
When & how

Get it ready
Empty the unit and secure the doors. Keep a unit with Freon out of the city bulk program, because large appliances with Freon are on the city's non-acceptable list, and keep batteries out of every load, because the county landfill cannot accept them.
Bulk and yard trimmings collections are free but they are appointment only, so call Waste Management at (404) 794-6707 or book through the hauler's bulk trash page at least one week in advance, with no account needed. The Wednesday route collects up to five bulk items per house with each item under forty pounds, and items may go to the curb no earlier than one day before the confirmed collection date. Carts go out before 7 a.m. and come back in by 9 p.m., five feet either side of the mailbox.
The city holds Beautify Forest Park Day quarterly from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 330 Forest Pkwy and 4853 Springdale Rd, with the next event on Saturday, October 3. Forest Park residents may bring anything for disposal except dirt, bricks, acids, unknown chemicals, flammable liquids and cement, and proof of residency is required. Car tires are limited to four per resident, paint dried with kitty litter is accepted, shredding needs at least three case ream boxes or three thirteen gallon bags per household, and no binders, electronics or other hazardous materials are accepted.
The Clayton County landfill accepts household waste, household furnishings, appliances and yard waste, and it prices mattresses separately at five per visit with a per piece charge in addition to the dumping fee. All trash has to be separated when it arrives, and proof of county residency or a county business licence is required. Asbestos, any batteries, hazardous materials and liquids cannot be accepted at all, and the scale charges by weight with a minimum for the first thousand pounds or a flat rate for a light pickup or car without a trailer.
