Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the garbage and recycling carts, wipe personal data before handover, and note the items the program will not take, which the flyer lists as ammunition, electric vehicle batteries, explosives, asbestos, tires and anything in an unlabeled or leaking container.
Household hazardous waste, electronics and hard to recycle items never go at the curb, because the city states they will not be collected with the regular garbage. Large quantities of construction and demolition material, pallets, large automotive parts, charcoal and hot ash, dirt, stone, concrete and rock, fencing, permanent swimming pools, medications, syringes and material left by a flood, fire, move or eviction are restricted from the weekly cycle, and up to four car or small truck tires without rims and no larger than 17 inches can go out on the scheduled recycling day for Joliet residents only.
