Choose the right items

One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

A box of smaller electronics.

Use Box of electronics for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. For a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries, send a photo and confirm the fit before booking.

Televisions, computers and electronic waste

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are refused with the regular trash, and the Village instead offers an at-home collection that residents in single-family homes and buildings of five or fewer units can schedule for televisions, computers, fax machines, printers and cell phones.

City cost & eligibility
The Village publishes the at-home electronics and hazardous waste collection without a fee on the collection page, so confirm any charge when the appointment is booked with the hauler at 844.633.3577.
When & how
Book the at-home collection with the hauler, and note that holiday lights can also be recycled by scheduling an e-waste pickup.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before handover, keep electronics out of the green cart because the Village states that mixing them into the trash stops the collection, and tell the hauler what devices are being set out when the appointment is made.
Village garbage and yard waste page with the Lakeshore Recycling Systems franchise, the two sticker bulk rule and weekly limit, the 50 pound guideline, the 4.00 sticker price and sellers, the bulk example list, the mattress cover, carpeting and appliance rules, the prohibited items list, the at-home electronics and hazardous waste collection, the set out times, the yard waste container rules, the smaller cart pilot rates and the holiday scheduleHauler Oak Park page with the sticker thresholds at 30 gallons, the appliance collection request window of 48 hours and the one appliance per week rule with two stickers, the special refuse collection for pianos, sofa sleepers, entertainment centres and construction debris with an estimate, and the dumpster rental option

What stops the truck entirely

Car parts, dirt and soil, concrete, tires, motor oil, pesticides, acid, gasoline, antifreeze, pool chemicals, automotive batteries, liquid paint and electronics such as computers, monitors and televisions are all prohibited in the trash, and the Village warns that collection will not be made if they are mixed into a load. Those materials move to the at-home electronics and household hazardous waste collection the Village offers to residents of single-family homes and buildings of five or fewer units.

Village of Oak Park with Lakeshore Recycling Systems

Schedule the at-home electronics and chemical collection

A household in a single-family home or a building of five or fewer units with electronics, paint products, automotive fluids, garden chemicals or cleaners.

Cost & conditions
The Village publishes the at-home collection without a fee on the collection page, so confirm any charge when the appointment is booked with the hauler.
Arrange it
Call the hauler at 844.633.3577 to schedule the at-home collection of electronics and household hazardous materials.

Offered to single-family homes and buildings of five or fewer units, and the material still cannot be mixed into a regular trash load because that stops collection.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Oak Park does not run a drop-off yard for household material, so everything moves through the Village's single hauler, Lakeshore Recycling Systems, at 844.633.3577. Trash, recycling and bulk go out weekly on the same collection day for residential buildings of five or fewer units, with the load at the curb by 7 a.m. and containers back in by 10 p.m., and the Village's prohibited list is strict: car parts, dirt and soil, concrete, tires, motor oil, pesticides, acid, gasoline, antifreeze, pool chemicals, automotive batteries, liquid paint and electronics such as computers, monitors and televisions all stop the collection when they are mixed in. Bulk material is priced with pink refuse stickers at 4.00 each, one sticker for a bag or rigid container up to 30 gallons and two for anything larger, so a couch, a mattress, a bed frame or a carpet roll costs two stickers, and the mattress also has to be inside a taped plastic cover. One bulk item and one appliance are collected each week, with the appliance needing a call at least 48 hours ahead because appliances cannot be landfilled. Electronics and household chemicals, including paint products, automotive fluids, garden chemicals and cleaners, move through the at-home collection the Village offers to single-family homes and small multi-family buildings, and anything needing special equipment, such as construction debris, a piano or a sofa sleeper, is quoted as a special refuse collection instead of taking stickers. Yard waste goes in paper bags or rigid containers of up to 32 gallons with free labels from the Public Works Center at 201 South Blvd.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Electronics removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Oak Park.

How much does electronics pickup cost in Oak Park?

A computer monitor is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Choose the actual devices and quantities to see your combined price online. A separate desktop tower and monitor are separate items. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; review the total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can you pick up old electronics today in Oak Park?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout and have the prepared items outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done. The booking is for a day, not an exact arrival time.

Does computer removal include my monitor and printer?

Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. Add a separate monitor, printer or laptop as its own item if it is going too. For small devices, cables and chargers together, choose Box of electronics and check the description before booking.

Do you erase data from old computers?

Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away. Completion photos confirm the pickup, not data destruction.Official guidance

Can I book one box of old cables and small electronics?

Yes. Box of electronics is an existing option for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. A monitor, desktop computer and printer each have their own item option. Send a photo before booking for a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries so we can confirm the fit.

Where can an Oak Park household take a television?

Schedule an at-home collection. Electronics such as computers, monitors and televisions are on the list of items that cannot go in the trash, and the page states that collection is skipped when they are mixed in. The Village offers residents in single-family homes and buildings of five or fewer units a scheduled at-home collection for electronic items such as televisions, computers, fax machines, printers and cell phones, booked through the hauler at 844.633.3577.Official guidance
