Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

The City publishes no rate for an item it does not name, so call Rock River Disposal on 815-965-2489 and confirm whether the machine can be collected as a bulk item, how it has to be reduced for safety and what it costs under the bulk refuse rates.

Get it ready
Describe the machine when calling, take it down as far as it comes apart, and cut anything long into sections no longer than four feet because the City insists that long solid objects be sectioned for safety. Keep the load within what one crew can lift, since an atypically large item has to be verified before it goes out.
The City publishes preparation rules instead of an appointment. A toilet tank comes off the bowl, boards, poles and other long solid objects are cut into sections no longer than four feet, bedding and furniture that has been infested is wrapped in plastic, a king size box spring is cut in half and a king size mattress folded in half and secured with tape or rope, and a refrigerant containing appliance needs a licensed technician's certification that it is refrigerant free.

Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
