The right sofa. The right price.

Count the sections, not the cushions.

A loveseat, a sleeper and a sectional can look similar in a photo. Match the shape and features so your online price covers what is actually going.

Three structural sectional modules slightly separated, with all cushions remaining on their bases.
This example has three structural sections. The cushions do not add to the count.

A straight sofa or loveseat

Choose Standard sofa for fixed seats with no pull-out bed or reclining mechanism. One whole sofa is one item.

A sectional

Count its structural sections, not the loose cushions. Choose the piece count, then check for a sleeper or reclining feature. One sectional booking covers the configuration you select.

A pull-out bed or reclining seats

Choose Sleeper sofa or Reclining sofa for those mechanisms. A single reclining chair has its own Recliner choice. All sofa types also includes futons and sofas with a chaise.

Couches, sofas and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

One piece of furniture comes off the property on the regular service day as part of the weekly bulk allowance, on the condition that each piece is light enough for one person to handle or is broken down into 50 pound pieces. The operator asks for a phone call before a large sofa so it can send a separate truck.

City cost & eligibility
Furniture is inside the one large item a week that comes with the monthly service rather than a separately priced product, and the published monthly rates are 31.16 dollars for residents, 29.66 for residents 65 and over and nothing for certified 100 percent disabled veterans as of October 1, 2026. Confirm with Homewood Disposal on 708-798-1004 whether a particular piece is a standard bulk item or an oversized one, which the contract prices at 45 dollars each.
When & how
Set one piece out on the regular collection day, and call ahead when the piece is a large sofa so the operator can plan a separate truck.
Get it ready
Break the piece down into sections of no more than 50 pounds if one person cannot lift it whole, keep it out of the carts, and keep it at the end of the driveway rather than in the street.

The 2026 contract sets the carts, the rates and the rules

Tinley Park's contract with Homewood Disposal Services took effect January 20, 2026, and the village publishes what it bought: a brown 95 gallon garbage cart and a green 95 gallon recycling cart at every home, additional carts for rent at 3 dollars a month for recycling, and benefits that include electronic collection, Christmas tree collection, senior and veteran discounts and an opt-in for townhome and condominium associations. As of October 1, 2026 the monthly rate is 31.16 dollars for residents, 29.66 for residents 65 and over, and nothing for certified 100 percent disabled veterans, with the discounts available only to households in the village program paying contractual rates. Village ordinance requires carts at the end of the driveway and not in the street, and payments go to Homewood Disposal rather than Village Hall.

One large item a week is included, and an oversized one is priced

The weekly bulk allowance is the backbone of the program. The operator states that the removal of one bulk item each week is included with the residential service and names a sofa, mattress or cabinet, with a mattress and box spring taken together as a set and a bed bug unit required to be wrapped. Appliances are also included at one a week, but collected later the same day by a separate truck with a lift gate, so they need a call ahead, and state law requires the doors removed from a dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, washer, dryer or stove and a water heater drained. Furniture has to be light enough for one person or broken into 50 pound pieces, up to two 50 pound cans of construction debris go out weekly, and carpet is rolled into bundles one person can lift. Above that allowance the contract prices the exception: an oversized bulk item that needs two or more collectors or a special truck, such as a piano, hot tub or spa, costs 45 dollars per item.

Homewood Disposal Service, the Village of Tinley Park contracted hauler

Put one large item out with the weekly collection

Any Tinley Park household on the village contract with a sofa, mattress, cabinet, chair, bike or similar household item to clear.

Cost & conditions
The item is inside the one a week bulk allowance that comes with the monthly residential service, so it carries no separate price. The published monthly rates are 31.16 dollars for residents, 29.66 for residents 65 and over and nothing for certified 100 percent disabled veterans as of October 1, 2026. Confirm with Homewood Disposal on 708-798-1004 whether the piece counts as a standard bulk item or as one of the village's 45 dollar oversized items.
Arrange it
Set the item at the end of the driveway, not in the street, on the regular collection day, and call ahead for a large sofa or anything too heavy for one person.

One item a week, and anything needing two collectors or a special truck moves into the priced oversized category. Electronics, paint, chemicals, batteries and tires are outside this route entirely.

Book the oversized bulk item collection

A household with an item that needs two or more collectors or a special truck, such as a piano, hot tub or spa.

Cost & conditions
$45 per oversized bulk item. The village states that the Homewood Disposal contract offers oversized bulk item collection for 45 dollars per item for items such as pianos, hot tubs and spas that require two or more collectors or a special truck because they will not fit in the garbage truck. Confirm the classification with Homewood Disposal on 708-798-1004 when the item is booked.
Arrange it
Call Homewood Disposal to book the oversized collection and follow its instructions for where the item should be placed.

This is for the item that does not fit the ordinary garbage truck. A piece that breaks down to 50 pound parts stays in the weekly allowance instead.

Drive to the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials

A Cook County household with furniture, small appliances, electronics, textiles or other hard to recycle material in one trip.

Cost & conditions
The village publishes the drop-off hours and the accepted material list but not a price, so confirm with the center on (708) 596-2000 extension 2442 whether any material carries a fee before loading a vehicle.
Arrange it
Take the material to South Suburban College at 15800 S. State St., South Holland, during the published windows, and check the center's own page for current details.

The village lists the service for Cook County residents, and the published windows are narrow: Tuesday mornings, Thursday afternoons and the second and fourth Saturday of each month.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Tinley Park sorts its disposal routes by material rather than sending residents to one county site. The village's contract with Homewood Disposal Services, effective January 20, 2026, includes one large item a week on the regular collection day, so a sofa, mattress, cabinet or bike needs no appointment, and the operator adds that a mattress and box spring go out together as a set, that furniture has to be light enough for one person or broken into 50 pound pieces, that one large appliance a week is collected by a separate lift gate truck when the household calls ahead with the doors removed, and that two 50 pound cans of construction debris go out weekly, with larger loads going to a transfer station charged by the ton. What does not fit that allowance is priced or redirected: an oversized item such as a piano, hot tub or spa costs 45 dollars, electronic collection is scheduled and capped at two televisions or monitors a single family home a year, and paint, chemicals and batteries fall to their own programs. Latex paint is non-hazardous and can be dried solid and set out beside the trash, while oil based paint, solvents, gasoline, antifreeze, propane and other chemicals belong at a household hazardous waste collection, either the Naperville regional site on weekends, the Chicago Goose Island site on Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Saturday of the month, or a pre-registered Illinois EPA one-day event, and Will County takes latex and oil based paint at its one-day events with a 15 gallon limit. Year-round PaintCare drop-off sites take architectural coatings at no charge but not aerosols. Cook County residents can also use the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials at South Suburban College in South Holland for furniture, small appliances, electronics, textiles and Styrofoam, and used tires go back to a tire retailer under the Illinois exchange rule. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Couch removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Tinley Park.

How much does couch removal cost in Tinley Park?

A standard sofa is $79 as the first item and $29 additional. Sectionals, sleepers and reclining sofas have their own choices. Select everything that is going to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can you pick up my couch today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the couch outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We send pickup updates and photos when it is done; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.

How do I book a sectional for removal?

Open Sectional in the sofa choices, count its structural sections, and select any sleeper or reclining feature. Count the sections with their own bases, not loose cushions. The matching catalog choice covers one complete sectional of that configuration. Text a photo before booking if you are unsure.

Will you carry my couch out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. Arrange for the sofa to be moved through the apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load and haul it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Arrange any dismantling needed to get it outside beforehand.

Do I need to wait at home for couch pickup?

You do not need to be home when your booked sofa is outside and accessible. Add photos and pickup-location notes to your order so the right pieces are easy to identify. We send updates and completion photos. Confirm any building access restrictions with us before booking.

Will Tinley Park take a couch?

Yes, one piece of furniture on the regular service day. The operator states that it will pick up one piece of furniture on the regular service day, that each piece must be light enough for one person to handle or be broken into 50 pound pieces, and that it appreciates a phone call in advance for a large sofa because a separate truck may be sent. An item that needs two collectors or a special truck falls into the village's 45 dollar oversized category.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Tinley Park?

Homewood Disposal Service, under a village contract that took effect January 20, 2026. Every home gets a brown 95 gallon garbage cart and a green 95 gallon recycling cart, additional carts rent for 3 dollars a month, and village ordinance requires carts at the end of the driveway rather than in the street. Payments go to Homewood Disposal instead of Village Hall.Official guidance

What counts as an oversized bulk item?

An item that needs two or more collectors to lift or a special truck because it will not fit in the garbage truck, with the village naming pianos, hot tubs and spas as examples. Those are priced at 45 dollars per item under the contract. Standard bulk items such as chairs, bikes, tables and mattresses stay in the one large item a week that comes with the service.Official guidance
