Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

The city publishes no curbside furniture collection. A couch normally leaves a Kansas City, Kansas household at one of the twice-yearly Dumpster Days events, where bulky household items such as mattresses and furniture are free, or through an arrangement the household makes itself.
Washing machines, dryers, stoves, ovens, dishwashers and water heaters have no published curbside collection here, but they do have two local routes: the Dumpster Days events take most appliances without refrigerant at no charge, and MRC Recycling in Kansas City, Missouri accepts them at its weekday public drop-off.
Weekly collection is a cart service with real limits: containers no heavier than 50 pounds with tight-fitting lids and handles, no metal barrels, and no loose trash. The city publishes no standing curbside appointment for a pile, so the municipal route for bulk junk is the twice-yearly Dumpster Days event.
The handoff matters
Kansas City, Kansas collects trash and recycling on the same day each week, and carts can go to the curb no earlier than 4 p.m. the day before and no later than 7 a.m. on the collection day. Each container needs a tight-fitting lid, usable handles for lifting and a weight at or under 50 pounds, and metal barrels are not acceptable. The city asks households to keep the carts clear of vehicles, fences and mailboxes and puts trash and recycling on separate sides of the driveway or walkway so the crew can tell them apart at a glance.
