Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Remodeling and construction debris

Special rules apply

Lawrence settles construction waste by amount, frequency and whether the site is residential or commercial, and asks you to call the Solid Waste Division about lumber, rock, sheetrock and similar material. A larger project uses a city roll-off container or a private receiver.

City cost & eligibility
For 2026 a roll-off container rental runs from $105.13 to $148.86 and the collection charge from $140.25 to $329.71 depending on size, with $79.86 for a blocked or overloaded container and a per-ton landfill charge of $39.41 set by Hamm Sanitary Landfill. Small residential loads are quoted by the division, so confirm the load before you start.
When & how
Call the division before the project begins, and reserve a roll-off container if the material will not fit a cart.
Get it ready
Keep heavy inert material such as concrete, rock and demolition debris separate, because a container cannot be filled to capacity with it. Tires, paint, chemicals, hazardous waste, yard waste and anything containing Freon are prohibited in a roll-off container, and it may be filled level full only.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Lawrence keeps most household material inside its own system rather than at a public landfill gate. A mattress, couch, appliance or other oversized item goes through the Residential Special Item Pick-Up request, electronics and other hard-to-recycle items go to an outlet listed in the city's Recyclable Materials Directory, and household chemicals and batteries go to the Household Hazardous Waste facility by appointment. The city's trash trucks and roll-off containers are tipped at the Hamm Sanitary Landfill north of Lawrence, which sets its own per-ton charge and answers landfill questions at 785-597-5111. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Lawrence.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Lawrence?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Lawrence?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can construction debris go in a roll-off container?

Yes. Construction and demolition material is accepted in the city's rented roll-off containers. Heavy material cannot fill the container to capacity because of weight limits, and tires, paint, chemicals, hazardous waste, yard waste and Freon appliances are prohibited.Official guidance

Who do I call about an item the form does not list?

Call the Solid Waste Division at 785-832-3032 or email solidwaste@lawrenceks.gov. The city's Recyclable Materials Directory lists local drop-off outlets for material that does not belong in the trash, in the recycling cart or on a bulky request.Official guidance
