The local disposal guide
Kenner runs two separate contracts. Waste Pro collects containerized household garbage twice a week and takes large items from the curb, and Ramelli handles citywide recycling on a district schedule that changed on August 3, 2026. Bulky material does not need a phone call: furniture, mattresses, appliances, large toys and resident construction debris go out beside the cart and come off the street on the second collection day of the week, with the refrigerant removed and tagged on any appliance that contains it. Kenner sets two hard limits on that route, a limit of 10 cubic yards and a bar on anything a contractor or permit job produced. Hazardous waste never goes curbside, and the city does not recycle glass at all. Kenner households have their own bulk waste drop-off site on 24th Street that opens on weekend mornings, and Jefferson Parish drop-off sites plus a parish household hazardous materials event cover tires, automotive fluids, batteries, glass and electronic waste.

The city bulk waste drop-off site lists televisions only as electronics allowed at the site's discretion, and Jefferson Parish lists televisions for e-waste at two drop-off sites and at its household hazardous materials event while refusing cathode ray tube sets elsewhere.
Computers, printers and small devices come off the curb only if the city drop-off site allows them, and the two Jefferson Parish drop-off sites maintain a longer e-waste list that excludes media, bulbs, copiers and audio gear.
Light construction debris from work a resident did without a permit may go curbside within the 10 cubic yard bulky limit, while anything a contractor produced or a permit job generated is not collected.
No Kenner or Jefferson Parish page names a treadmill, elliptical or weight machine, so exercise equipment stays a confirm instruction under the bulky waste allowance rather than an assumed item.

The handoff matters
Kenner household garbage is bagged and placed in the green Waste Pro container, which is collected twice a week on the route for the address, either Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Friday, or Wednesday and Saturday. Recycling runs by council district since August 3, 2026, with District 1 on Friday, District 2 on Thursday, District 3 on Wednesday, District 4 on Tuesday and District 5 on Monday, and recyclables go out on the second collection day loose in the cart with no bagging. The city provides one recycling container, extra overflow has to go in a container marked RECYCLING beside the city bin, and a contaminated load is left behind with an oops card explaining why.

They go beside the roll-out cart rather than inside it and are removed on the second collection day of the week, so a household only has to have them out by the usual start time. The set-out is limited to 10 cubic yards and to residential use, items have to be stacked or bagged neatly with at least 3 feet of clearance from carts, vehicles, mailboxes and utility poles, and the pile cannot block a sidewalk, driveway or storm drain. Containers may not go out before 3 PM the day before collection and must be off the curb by the end of collection day.

Debris from a yard service, a tree removal contractor or a permitted construction or demolition job is the contractor's responsibility, and leaving it out can draw a city violation. Kenner also does not recycle glass. The routes that cover those items sit outside the city truck: the Kenner bulk waste drop-off site on 24th Street takes white goods, scrap metal, small residential construction quantities, yard waste, large household fixtures and electronics when the site allows them, and Jefferson Parish drop-off sites at Metairie and Marrero add tires, automotive fluids, oil filters, batteries, cooking oil and e-waste.

Yes. Furniture is collected as bulky waste beside the cart rather than in it, and it comes off the street on the second collection day of the week. No call to Waste Pro or the city is needed, but the piece has to be stacked neatly with 3 feet of clearance from carts, vehicles, mailboxes and utility poles, and the whole bulky set-out is limited to 10 cubic yards.Official guidance
Two ways. A mattress counts as bulky waste at the curb, so it goes beside the cart on the second collection day of the week within the 10 cubic yard limit and without a phone call. The city also names mattresses on the accepted list at its bulk waste drop-off site at 1803 24th Street, which opens 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturdays and Sundays and asks for proof of Kenner residency.Official guidance
The refrigerant comes out first. The city holds residents responsible for having the refrigerant removed from every appliance that contains it, with a certifying sticker, before the unit is placed curbside for pickup. White goods then go beside the cart on the second collection day, and the bulk waste drop-off site also takes refrigerators with the doors removed along with stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers and microwaves.Official guidance
That has to be confirmed before the set leaves the house. The city bulk waste drop-off page lists televisions only as electronics allowed at the site's discretion, and the Jefferson Parish drop-off page both names televisions in its e-waste list and prints no CRT or TV beside the same line, so call the city at 504-468-7240 or the parish at 504-731-4612 first. The parish household hazardous materials event does accept televisions and CRT monitors.Official guidance
No. Bulky waste, large items, white goods and remodeling debris may be placed at the curb at any time and are removed on the second collection day of the week, and residents do not need to call Waste Pro or the city to arrange it. The limits are a 10 cubic yard residential set-out, items stacked or bagged neatly with 3 feet of clearance, and no hazardous waste or tires.Official guidance
Waste Pro collects residential and commercial garbage, and Ramelli Recycling handles citywide recycling, both under city contracts. Household garbage is bagged into the green Waste Pro container and collected twice a week on one of three routes, and recycling runs by council district on a schedule that changed on August 3, 2026. The city provides one recycling container, extra overflow has to go in a container marked RECYCLING beside the city bin, and questions go to the city at 504-468-7240 or Waste Pro at (504) 392-4619.Official guidance
The curbside bulky set-out is part of the residential service rather than a separate charge, and no appointment is needed: bulky waste, large items, white goods and remodeling debris go beside the cart and come off the street on the second collection day of the week. The limits are residential use only, 10 cubic yards per set-out, neat stacking with 3 feet of clearance, no hazardous waste and no tires. A household that would rather haul its own load can use the city drop-off site on 24th Street, which publishes no fee but does require proof of Kenner residency.Official guidance
Hazardous household waste is never picked up curbside, including paint, motor oil, pesticides, gasoline and pool chemicals, and tires are refused in the bulky set-out too. Debris from a yard service, a tree removal contractor or a permitted construction or demolition job is not the city's to remove and can draw a violation if left out. Kenner also does not recycle glass at all, and the city's own recycling page sends glass bottles and jars to the Jefferson Parish drop-off sites. Electronics sit in the uncertain middle: the city drop-off site lists televisions, computers and printers only when the site allows them.Official guidance
Not in the city carts. Kenner does not accept glass in its recycling program and points residents to Jefferson Parish drop-off sites for glass bottles and jars. The Metairie and Marrero parish sites also take waste tires at five per resident per day, automotive fluids at five gallons per resident per day, oil filters at two per resident per day and lead acid batteries, and they open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Kenner loads go into the containers labelled for municipal loads, the parish lists a per vehicle fee for the municipalities including Kenner, and cash is not accepted.Official guidance
