When & how
Call the city at 504-468-7240 about the bulk waste drop-off site, or call the parish at 504-731-4612 before taking a load to the Metairie site on David Drive or the Marrero site on Lapalco Boulevard, which open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 am to 5:30 pm.
Get it ready
Wipe stored data from drives and phones, keep power supplies and cables with the device, and sort out anything the parish refuses such as light bulbs, media, audio equipment and cartridges before loading the vehicle.
Garbage twice a week, recycling on the district day
Kenner household garbage is bagged and placed in the green Waste Pro container, which is collected twice a week on the route for the address, either Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Friday, or Wednesday and Saturday. Recycling runs by council district since August 3, 2026, with District 1 on Friday, District 2 on Thursday, District 3 on Wednesday, District 4 on Tuesday and District 5 on Monday, and recyclables go out on the second collection day loose in the cart with no bagging. The city provides one recycling container, extra overflow has to go in a container marked RECYCLING beside the city bin, and a contaminated load is left behind with an oops card explaining why.
Hazardous waste, tires and contractor debris never ride the curb
Hazardous household waste is not picked up curbside, including paint, motor oil, pesticides, gasoline and pool chemicals, and tires are refused in the bulky set-out as well. Debris from a yard service, a tree removal contractor or a permitted construction or demolition job is the contractor's responsibility, and leaving it out can draw a city violation. Kenner also does not recycle glass. The routes that cover those items sit outside the city truck: the Kenner bulk waste drop-off site on 24th Street takes white goods, scrap metal, small residential construction quantities, yard waste, large household fixtures and electronics when the site allows them, and Jefferson Parish drop-off sites at Metairie and Marrero add tires, automotive fluids, oil filters, batteries, cooking oil and e-waste.
