Peabody runs its own collection from 50 Farm Avenue, and the city moved to a trash fee on July 1, 2026: households pay a yearly fee that is billed on the quarterly water and sewer bill, with a discount for older residents, veterans, hardship cases and composters, and no fee at all for condominiums and buildings of five or more apartments. Appliances, televisions and computer equipment leave with a white goods sticker after a call to Republic Services, and mattresses, box springs, yard waste, scrap metal and recyclables go to the Recycling Center on Farm Avenue instead, because Massachusetts stopped mattress disposal in 2022. Everything else moves on one of two routes: the weekly curbside pickup, which allows a single bulky item, and six voucher-only Resident Dump Days a year at the Republic Services transfer station on Forest Street.

Vouchers are monthly, expire on the residents' day for that month, are issued first come first served up to 100 per time slot, and carry no cost. The last day to pick one up or reserve one by phone is 2:30 p.m. on the Thursday before the event, no vouchers are issued on the Friday before, and proof of residency is required at the gate, where residents unload their own material into a dumpster.
The dump day household cap is 1,500 pounds for the fiscal year
The flyer caps a household at 1,500 pounds per fiscal year, measured per household rather than per property, with the printed window running from July 1 to June 30. A household over the cap is still allowed to dump, but pays the extra weight to Republic Services by credit card only, so confirm the current fiscal-year window with Public Services before loading a heavy vehicle.
A holiday pushes collection back one day for the rest of the week
When a 2026 holiday falls on a collection day, trash and recycling are delayed by one day for the remainder of that week, and the city buildings close. The 2026 list includes New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Patriots Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, while Saturday July 4 is listed with no delay.
Keep recycling loose and keep the excluded material out
Rinse containers and put them loose in the recycling barrel rather than inside plastic bags, and put paper and cardboard in a paper bag or a box.
