A white goods sticker goes on the unit, not on a bag
The sticker is valid for one item and has to sit on the unit in a place the handler can see from the street. Call Republic Services at (781) 289-0500 by 3:00 p.m. at least one day before the regular rubbish day to be put on the pickup list, then have the item curbside by 7:00 a.m., or take it to 50 Farm Avenue with identification on a weekday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
A holiday pushes collection back one day for the rest of the week
When a 2026 holiday falls on a collection day, trash and recycling are delayed by one day for the remainder of that week, and the city buildings close. The 2026 list includes New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Patriots Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, while Saturday July 4 is listed with no delay.
Keep recycling loose and keep the excluded material out
Rinse containers and put them loose in the recycling barrel rather than inside plastic bags, and put paper and cardboard in a paper bag or a box. No plastic bags, no styrofoam, no hazardous items such as paint, aerosol, gas, oil or extinguishers, no broken glass, dishes, Pyrex, ceramics or window glass, and no fluorescent bulbs, televisions, monitors or electronics.
