Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction, renovation and building material

Special rules apply

Construction material cannot go in the city carts, large building items such as garage doors and bathtubs need a bulk sticker, and the county takes the rest by the load or by weight.

City cost & eligibility
The city collects no construction material in the carts, so a large building item is collected at the curb only under the bulky sticker charge, and the county prices a renovation load at the scale from a published minimum vehicle-load charge with per-ton rates for construction and demolition material, so the amount depends on what the load weighs.
When & how
Book the large items, such as a garage door, a glass or wood door, a sliding door, a sink, a bathtub or a window awning, through the city bulky program. Take loose renovation material to the North Kent center in Rockford or the South Kent center in Byron Center during opening hours, and take concrete, asphalt and aggregate to South Kent.
Get it ready
Keep wood, boards and construction material out of the refuse and recycling carts and out of the blue city bags, bag or bundle loose material so it can be lifted, and double bag lead paint chips and take them to a landfill rather than leaving them for collection, because Grand Rapids trash is burned at the county waste-to-energy facility.

Prepare restricted items before they leave the house

Televisions of any kind are refused at the curb and go to a Kent County electronics drop-off instead, appliances holding refrigerant are accepted for recycling with the fee paid at the county scale, refrigerators and freezers lose their doors first, household chemicals and paint wait for a SafeChem collection window, and yard waste, wood, boards and construction material never go inside a city cart or a blue city bag.

City of Grand Rapids Public Works with Kent County Department of Public Works

Haul a renovation or cleanout load to a Kent County center

A household with drywall, flooring, cabinets, lumber, concrete or other material from a renovation or a whole-house cleanout.

Cost & conditions
The city collects no construction material in the carts, and the county prices a load at the scale from a published minimum vehicle-load charge for general refuse with separate per-ton rates for construction and demolition material, so the amount depends on what the load weighs and what it is in.
Arrange it
Take the load to the North Kent Recycling & Waste Center at 2908 Ten Mile Road in Rockford or the South Kent Recycling & Waste Center at 10300 South Kent Drive in Byron Center during opening hours, where it is weighed and paid for at the gate by cash, check or card. Concrete, asphalt and aggregate go to South Kent, where they are taken free of charge.

Kent County may accept or reject any waste, closing times are exact and a load still being unloaded after closing draws an after-hours charge, so arrive with time to unload. Construction material still may not go in a city refuse cart, recycle cart or blue refuse bag.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Grand Rapids.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Grand Rapids?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Grand Rapids?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Can renovation debris go out with the trash?

Not in the carts. The city does not allow yard waste, wood, boards or construction material inside refuse carts, recycle carts or blue refuse bags, and a violation can follow. Bulky building items such as garage doors, glass or wood doors, sliding doors, sinks, bathtubs and window awnings are collected at the curb under the city bulk sticker program instead, and the rest of a renovation load goes to the North Kent center in Rockford or the South Kent center in Byron Center, where concrete, asphalt and aggregate are taken free.Official guidance

What cannot be put out with the trash in Grand Rapids?

Televisions of any kind, hazardous waste and tires never ride the city truck, and yard waste, wood, boards and construction material are barred from the refuse carts, the recycling carts and the blue city bags. A mattress, couch, appliance or other bulky item that will not fit in the cart needs a bulk sticker before it goes out, and refuse left outside the cart has to be in a blue city bag. Paint, chemicals, batteries and bulbs belong at a Kent County SafeChem site instead.Official guidance

Where can I take items myself in Kent County?

The North Kent Recycling & Waste Center at 2908 Ten Mile Road in Rockford and the South Kent Recycling & Waste Center at 10300 South Kent Drive in Byron Center take appliances, electronics, tires, scrap metal and compressed gas tanks, and the Grand Rapids SafeChem site at 1045 Wealthy Street SW takes electronics during its own collection window. Electronics are free for residents apart from box-style televisions, monitors and appliances holding refrigerant, mattresses and box springs are landfilled per piece, and concrete, asphalt and aggregate go to South Kent free of charge.Official guidance
