Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Electronics stay out of the curbside recycling cart and out of a bulk trash pile. Kalamazoo County households can take televisions, monitors, computers and cords to the hazard center free, and the city adds Saturday drop-off events for anything that has to wait for a weekend.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free for a Kalamazoo County household outside Climax Township at the county Household Hazardous Waste Center. The city drop-off events charge a separate processing fee for older screens.
When & how
The county center takes material Tuesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. and the second Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon, and it does not open that Saturday in August or September. City drop-off events run 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on published Saturdays at Mayors' Riverfront Park, with October 31 and December 26, 2026 listed next.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers, drives and phones before donating or dropping them off. Smoke detectors are refused on this route, and items holding liquid or refrigerant are not accepted with electronics. Keep televisions, monitors, laptops, cords and batteries out of the curbside recycling cart.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Keep tires, liquids and hazardous material out of the pile

A bulk trash pile will not take tires, large auto parts, paint cans or other containers of liquid, rocks, sand, glass, concrete, yard waste, household trash, recyclables, EPS foam, electronics, or a cooling appliance that still holds Freon. Hazardous material belongs at the county center on Lamont Avenue, and the drop-off day takes tires only when they are cut into flat pieces.

For your Dropcurb pickup

City recycling drop-off events at Mayors' Riverfront Park

A city resident with a television, computer, cord or other electronic item that cannot go in the curbside cart.

Cost & conditions
$10 for processing fee for each CRT or LCD television or monitor dropped off at a city event. City of Kalamazoo resident using the Mayors' Riverfront Park collection. Most other accepted electronics are taken at no charge.
Arrange it
Bring the item to Mayors' Riverfront Park at 251 Mills St between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on a published Saturday. The next dates listed by the city are October 31 and December 26, 2026.

Electronics recycling is offered at the Mayors' Riverfront Park events only, not from the curb. Smoke detectors and anything holding liquid or refrigerant are refused, and the city asks that nothing be left at the site outside collection hours.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling here starts with the material rather than the vehicle. Furniture, mattresses and appliances that hold no refrigerant fit the quarterly curbside pile or the free drop-off days at Republic Services on Gembrit Circle, where proof of city residency is required at the gate. Televisions, computers and hazardous items belong at the county center on Lamont Avenue instead. A refrigerator, freezer, dehumidifier or air conditioner needs refrigerant handling, so the county list sends those to a reconditioned appliance dealer and Kalamazoo Metal Recyclers recovers refrigerant from units brought to its King Highway yard. Concrete, asphalt, shingles, wallboard and wood go to the WasteNot transfer station on Ravine Road for a fee, and the metal buyers on Glendenning Road pay for scrap appliances and wiring. Identify the material first, then confirm the destination and the price before you load. Household chemicals, oil-based paints and solvents, batteries, light bulbs, mercury devices and one-pound propane cylinders, plus electronics including televisions of all types, monitors, computers, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, phones, cables, wires and power cords.

Air conditioners, dehumidifiers and refrigerators are not accepted. Latex paint and containers of oil over five gallons are refused, smoke detectors should go in regular trash, and sharps, tires, concrete and construction material are not part of this program. A business has to register as a very small quantity generator before it can use the site.

Tuesday and Friday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday noon to 6 p.m., and the second Saturday of the month 8 a.m. to noon, which is not offered in August or September. Published 2026 closures include the county fair week, September 25 for Street Rod Nationals, and the usual holidays.

No charge. Free for a Kalamazoo County household outside Climax Township and for residents of the participating communities the county lists. Call 269-383-8742 to confirm current participation fees, disposal costs and any appointment.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Kalamazoo.

How much does TV removal cost in Kalamazoo?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Kalamazoo?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do old televisions go in Kalamazoo?

Not in the recycling cart and not in a bulk trash pile. A Kalamazoo County household can take televisions, monitors, computers, printers and cords to the Household Hazardous Waste Center on Lamont Avenue free of charge, and the city's Saturday drop-off events at Mayors' Riverfront Park accept electronics with a processing fee for CRT and LCD screens.Official guidance

Who handles curbside recycling and bulk trash in Kalamazoo?

The city's Department of Public Services runs curbside recycling, quarterly bulk trash, monthly yard waste and the fall leaf program, and the Solid Waste Millage pays for them instead of a per-pickup charge. Regular household trash is not a city service and has to be arranged privately. Bulk trash days are assigned by address, so check the city collection lookup or call 311.Official guidance
