Only city issued trash and recycling carts are emptied. Put them at the front curb or the edge of the street, never in the roadway, with the wheels facing the curb, about three feet between carts and four feet of clearance from overhead obstructions. Once the carts are full, extra items may be placed at the curb beside them.

Arrange it
Drive to 32300 Glendale Avenue, east of Farmington Road between Schoolcraft and Plymouth Roads. Fees are collected in cash at the gate, and the site publishes different winter and season hours, so confirm the current schedule first.
Building material is limited to a small load of about a wheelbarrow full. Animal waste, chemicals, fungicides, gasoline, paint and pesticides are refused, and mattresses and appliances are not named among the accepted items.
Self hauling in Livonia has three published destinations, and each one takes a different kind of load. Household clutter, furniture, carpeting, small amounts of building material and up to ten tires go to the Refuse Disposal Site at 32300 Glendale Avenue, which is open to Livonia households only, charges per vehicle in cash at the entrance gate, and publishes a separate winter schedule. Clean wood, brush, pallets, plywood, logs and stumps go next door to the Mid-Michigan Recycling Center at 32700 Glendale Street, free for a Livonia resident with a Livonia driver's license and proof of residency in a personally owned vehicle. Televisions, computers, chemicals, paint, needles and batteries go to ERG Environmental Services at 13040 Merriman Road on weekdays, where residency is verified and the published charge is by weight. Cardboard larger than three feet by three feet, larger scrap metal and vehicle batteries can also go to the Drop-Off Recycling Center on the south side of Glendale Avenue.
