When & how
Set furniture beside the cart on your collection day before 7 am with no call ahead, and set carpet out in the same place on the same day.
Get it ready
Cut carpet to lengths of 4 feet or less, roll it, secure it with tape or rope and keep each roll under 60 pounds. Take a pool table apart before it goes out, and cut a standard bathtub in half if it is going out too.
A bulky piece goes next to the cart on the regular trash day with no call ahead, because the driver sends a separate truck for bulky items. Keep the piece out of the carts and leave room around them so the lifting arm still reaches both carts.
Wrap a mattress in plastic, take the doors off a refrigerator or freezer, drain a water heater, cut carpet to 4 foot lengths and keep each roll under 60 pounds, and cut wood to 4 feet, bundle it and remove the nails. Take a pool table apart and cut a standard bathtub in half.
