Get it ready
Wrap the mattress or box spring in plastic and set it neatly at the curb, in the right of way between the sidewalk and the street. Keep it off the sidewalk, out of the driveway and out of the street, and hold anything past one room's worth for a dumpster.
Out after 6 p.m. the night before and before 7 a.m. on pickup day
Trash, recycling, yard waste and bulky items go to the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before your service day and no later than 7 a.m. on the day itself. The hauler states plainly that all material has to be at the curb by 7 a.m.
In the right of way between the sidewalk and the street
Place bins and bulky items at the curb in the right of way between the sidewalk and the street, with containers separated from each other. Containers do not belong in the driveway, on the sidewalk or in the street, and the city asks that nothing extends over a sidewalk or the roadway.
The city asks for a mattress to be wrapped in plastic before it is placed at the curb. It then goes out with the regular household collection on your service day rather than on a separate appointment, and it still counts toward the one room's worth the city allows.
Large household items are collected in reasonable quantities, but the city asks for a dumpster when a house clean-out, or the debris and furniture, runs past one room's worth. A move-out is the same calculation, so size the load before you set it out.
New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are observed. When one falls on or before your service day, pickup runs one day later than normal, and a holiday on a weekend causes no delay.
