Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Doors, mirrors and remodel debris

Special rules apply

A single small remodel piece such as a taped door or mirror is taken as bulk, while a remodel, a move-out or a contractor load is outside the bulk program and has to be handled separately.

City cost & eligibility
Sterling Heights refuses a remodel, move-out or contractor load as bulk refuse and lists wood with nails or screws, brick and block, dirt and soil, and wet paint among the items that do not qualify, so a load that size needs a special pick-up from Priority Waste, a rented container, or the DPW Clean-up Saturday drop-off.
When & how
A single taped or bundled piece goes out on the regular refuse day. The Clean-up Saturdays on May 9 and 16, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. are the published drop-off for lumber and similar debris from residents.
Get it ready
Tape glass and mirrors as much as possible to keep them from shattering, cut lumber without nails or screws into bundles of four feet or shorter that stay under 50 pounds, and keep dirt, brick, block and nailed wood out of the curbside pile.

City of Sterling Heights Department of Public Works (Priority Waste curbside contract)

Priority Waste special pick-up

Arrange it
Call Priority Waste at 586-228-1200, describe the material and the access, and take the quoted date and any preparation instructions before you set anything out.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Sterling Heights collects bulky household items on the weekly route instead of running a neighborhood drop-off center, so a resident who hauls material personally uses the Department of Public Works at 7200 18 Mile Road. The published Clean-up Saturdays on May 9 and 16, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. take furniture, lumber, tires, dirt and tree stumps, and the electronics day on Oct. 3, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. brings Great Lakes Electronics in for televisions, computers and anything else with a cord. Paint, solvents and similar liquids never belong in the refuse cart or the curbside pile: they wait for the city hazardous waste event or for one of the Macomb County collection days at 43525 Elizabeth Road in Mt. Clemens, which are appointment only and turn away electronics. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Sterling Heights.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Sterling Heights?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Sterling Heights?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Will the city take a door or a mirror?

A small remodel piece such as a door or a mirror is on the no-charge bulk list when it is taped as much as possible to keep glass from shattering, and it counts as one of the five weekly bulk items.Official guidance

Can I put a renovation pile at the curb?

No. A remodel, move-out or eviction load is outside the bulk program, and dirt, brick, block, wet paint, and wood with nails or screws never qualify. Order a special pick-up from Priority Waste or use the DPW Clean-up Saturday drop-off.Official guidance

Where do paint, chemicals and other banned items go?

Wet paint and oils do not qualify as bulk, and liquids are banned from landfills. The city household hazardous waste event at the DPW on April 18, 2026 and the Macomb County Health Department appointment days at 43525 Elizabeth Road in Mt. Clemens take oil based paint, solvents and similar products, and neither one takes electronics.Official guidance

How do I order a special pickup?

Call Priority Waste at 586-228-1200. The city publishes the charge as depending on the size of the load, and a rented container is the other route for a cleanout or a remodel.Official guidance
