Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

When & how
Set the equipment at the curb before 7 a.m. on your collection day with the rest of the household's bulky items and allow 48 hours for removal.
Get it ready
Empty any water or oil reservoir before the piece goes out and take off parts that would make the load unstable at the curb. Keep loose electronic parts out of the recycling cart and route them to SOCRRA if they are on the electronics list.
Routes run Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until the work is finished. Material can be placed at the curb no earlier than 5 p.m. on the previous day and no later than 7 a.m. on the collection day, and containers should come back in within 24 hours.
Bulky items go out with the regular collection day without an appointment, up to two per week, and the household allows 48 hours for the hauler to reach them. Every piece has to stay under 250 pounds.

Both of SOCRRA's operating sites sit inside Troy, which makes the self-haul routes short. The drop-off center at 995 Coolidge takes electronics, household hazardous waste, styrofoam, batteries and paper shredding by appointment for member community residents, and the transfer station at 991 Coolidge takes trash loads by weight without an appointment during limited weekday and Saturday hours. The Department of Public Works at 4693 Rochester Rd keeps a cardboard dumpster and a battery container open to residents at any time.
