Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

When & how
Call Walters Recycling and Refuse at 763-780-8464 at least one business day before the regular collection day, then put the machine out next to the trash cart the night before or by 6:30 a.m. on the collection day.
Get it ready
Strip the machine down as far as it comes apart and take the console off the frame so nothing sticks out past the curb line. Bulk services are prepaid, so nothing goes out until the pickup is booked and paid, and the item stays clear of the sidewalk and the street.
The city ordinance behind the collection rules asks for refuse, recyclables and yard waste to be set out immediately behind the curb and within two feet of it, and containers are not allowed in the street. Collection begins at 7AM and the carts are out at the curb by 7AM, so the night before is the safe time to stage everything.
Bulk items and appliances are not collected on their own. The city asks households without the premium service to call Walters Recycling and Refuse at 763-780-8464 to arrange the pickup, and it states that all appliance and bulk item services are prepaid. The hauler asks for the booking at least one business day before the regular collection day and gives the price at that point.
Services that follow a holiday may be delayed one day, and the hauler publishes the delay for each holiday of the year. The 2026 list delays Friday services by a day after New Year's Day, every service by a day all week after Memorial Day and after Labor Day, Thursday and Friday by a day after Thanksgiving, and Friday by a day after Christmas, with no delay around Independence Day.

Place the approved item at the curb next to the trash cart the night before or by 6:30 a.m., and the crew takes it away on the normal service day.
The service covers larger normal household items rather than a whole house. Construction debris and carpet came out of the premium service in 2017, the six item allotment is per calendar year rather than per pickup, and every item has to be booked and prepaid before it goes out.

Bulky furniture and mattresses, appliances with water softeners emptied, e-waste, extra bags of trash, construction and demolition debris and large outdoor items such as grills, lawnmowers and basketball hoops, all for a fee. At no charge from residential customers the centre takes aluminum and metal cans, cardboard up to one cubic yard, glass jars and bottles, plastics 1, 2 and 5 bottles and jugs with necks, magazines, mixed paper, newspaper and phone books, batteries of every type, small electronics such as cell phones and ink cartridges, eyeglasses, scrap metal with no redemption, bicycles for the Bikes4kids programme and clothing and textiles through the USAgain box.
Bring a valid photo ID, and expect to pay by card because the centre is cashless. Drain all gas and oil from any equipment before arrival, empty water softener brine tanks completely, and expect bigger loads and extra cardboard beyond the first cubic yard to carry a fee. The centre publishes no price list and asks residents to call 763-780-8464 for the current rates.
