Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulk collection exists in Chesterfield, but it is not part of the weekly service or the published rate. The city guide sends home appliances and furniture to Republic bulk pickup, and Republic's own Chesterfield page offers bulk waste and dumpster rental for home projects and cleanouts. Everything about the price, the booking and the size of the load comes from the hauler.
City cost & eligibility
The city's published rates cover the weekly trash, recycling and optional yard waste service, and no bulk item price is published on either the city or the hauler side. Republic quotes the bulk pickup and any container rental on 636-947-5959, so confirm before the load goes out.
When & how
Book the bulk pickup or the container with Republic and follow the day it assigns; the regular weekly collection stays on the city contract schedule, collected from the cart behind the building line until collection day.
Get it ready
Keep carts stored behind the building line so they are not visible from the right of way, keep the bulk pile off the curb until the pickup is booked, and use the optional extra cart or the yard waste program rather than overloading the regular cart.
The city code requires solid waste containers to be stored behind the building line so they are not visible from the public right of way, and subdivision indentures can add stricter rules, so the cart goes out for collection and comes back in afterwards. Carts are collected weekly on the city contract, and the optional yard waste service runs on the ward day Republic assigns. Questions about container visibility go to City Hall on 636-537-4000 or to the subdivision trustee.
The weekly contract rate covers ordinary household collection, and nothing in the city guide suggests a bulky item can simply be left at the curb on the normal day. Appliances and furniture go through Republic bulk pickup, which is booked on 636-947-5959 and priced by the hauler, and Republic also rents dumpsters for home projects and cleanouts. Book first, put the material out on the assigned day, and take the cart back behind the building line once it has been emptied.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
Weekly refuse and recycling under the city contract
A Chesterfield household in the residential contract area that needs the weekly trash and recycling service, and optionally yard waste.
Cost & conditions
$17.61 per month for trash and recycling under the rate schedule effective 8/1/2026 through 7/31/2031, billed quarterly at $52.83; the senior rate is $14.97 a month, billed quarterly at $44.91. Yard waste is the optional add-on at $18.19 a month, billed quarterly at $54.57, or $15.46 a month for seniors, billed quarterly at $46.38, on a minimum three month commitment, with a per bag alternative that Republic prices separately. Residential customers in the city contract area. A 15 per cent senior citizen discount applies to Chesterfield residents aged 65 or older with two or fewer people living in the home, on proof of age sent to Republic Services.
Arrange it
Set up or change the service with Republic Services on the quarterly bill, and add yard waste separately if the household wants it. Republic also rents an additional 65 or 90 gallon cart.
Yard waste is optional rather than included, the senior rate has to be applied for with proof of age, and bulk item charges are arranged with the hauler and are not published in the city schedule.
A Chesterfield household with appliances, furniture, a mattress or another item too large for the weekly cart.
Cost & conditions
The city's published contract rates cover the weekly trash, recycling and optional yard waste service rather than bulk items, and no bulk price appears on the city pages or on Republic's Chesterfield page. Republic quotes the pickup and any container rental on 636-947-5959.
Arrange it
Call Republic Services at 636-947-5959 or use the account tools on its Chesterfield page, describe the items, pay for the pickup as directed, and set the material out on the assigned day.
This is the contractor that holds the city's exclusive residential contract, so there is no competing city route, but the price is set by the company rather than by the city, and the city guide warns that its own list can change and that additional fees may apply.

Can you pick up bags of junk today?+

Do I count every object inside a bag or box?+
No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.
Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?+
Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.
Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?+
Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.
