Choose the right items

One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

A box of smaller electronics.

Use Box of electronics for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. For a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries, send a photo and confirm the fit before booking.

Televisions, computers and small electronics

Accepted with preparation

Springfield runs no municipal electronics drop-off, so the published local route is a commercial recycler that accepts computers, phones, printers, cables and other devices free and charges per screen for televisions and monitors.

City cost & eligibility
From $20 per television or monitor at Complete Electronics Recycling, where other electronics are accepted free. Households at 2935 W. Chestnut Expy. All televisions, CRT monitors and LCD, LED or plasma televisions carry the screen rate, while computers, laptops, LCD and LED monitors in the computing category, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, servers, phones, tablets, gaming systems, cables, fluorescent bulbs and batteries follow their own lines.
When & how
Take the device to Complete Electronics Recycling at 2935 W. Chestnut Expy on a Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., or request a pickup and confirm the collection charge. The city's own guidance for an item the facilities do not take is to search the Waste Wizard.
Get it ready
Wipe or remove the storage from a computer, laptop, tablet or phone before it leaves the house, and keep batteries and bulbs out of the recycling bins at the city centers, which accept only aluminum, cardboard, glass, paper, plastic, tin and limited yard waste. A television is never an approved item at a city recycling center.

Use the local electronics and appliance recycler

A Springfield household with a television, computer, printer, phone, battery, bulb, appliance, exercise machine, lawnmower or bicycle that should be recycled rather than buried.

Cost & conditions
From $20 per television or monitor, and per appliance containing freon, at Complete Electronics Recycling. Households at 2935 W. Chestnut Expy. Televisions and monitors are charged per item, appliances containing freon such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers are charged the same per item rate, fluorescents are charged per bulb and alkaline batteries per pound, while computers, printers, phones, tablets, cables, kitchen and laundry appliances, exercise equipment, lawnmowers and bicycles are accepted free.
Arrange it
Drop the material at 2935 W. Chestnut Expy between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday, or request a pickup on the company's contact form and confirm the collection charge it warns may apply.

The recycler refuses garbage, food packaging, glass bottles, compostables, yard waste and all household chemicals, paints, solvents and aerosols, so those streams still go to the city facilities.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Springfield households have real self-haul options even though there is no city collection crew. Recycling is free at the city centers, which accept aluminum, cardboard, glass, paper, plastic and tin and are open Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Lone Pine adds ten bags of leaves and two bundles of brush. Yard waste goes to the Yardwaste Recycling Center at 3790 S. Farm Road 119 in Brookline, because yard waste is banned from Missouri landfills, and that site is the only city location that takes residential brush in pickup loads or larger. Mattresses and box springs are recycled for a flat per piece rate at Lone Pine, Franklin Avenue or the Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill. Household chemicals go by appointment to the Household Chemical Collection Center on West Nichols Street. Household waste, furniture and construction debris can be taken to the Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill at 3545 W. Farm Road 34 in Willard, where every vehicle pays a minimum plus a per ton charge and the load has to be covered and secured. Appliances cannot go to the landfill at all, and neither can whole tires, waste oil, lead acid batteries, hazardous waste or yard waste, so an appliance, a television or a computer goes to Complete Electronics Recycling on West Chestnut Expressway, which takes most devices and machines free and charges per item for televisions, monitors and any appliance containing freon. Anything unusual should be checked on the city's Waste Wizard or by calling the recycling hotline on 417-864-1904 before it is loaded. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Electronics removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Springfield.

How much does electronics pickup cost in Springfield?

A computer monitor is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Choose the actual devices and quantities to see your combined price online. A separate desktop tower and monitor are separate items. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; review the total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can you pick up old electronics today in Springfield?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout and have the prepared items outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done. The booking is for a day, not an exact arrival time.

Does computer removal include my monitor and printer?

Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. Add a separate monitor, printer or laptop as its own item if it is going too. For small devices, cables and chargers together, choose Box of electronics and check the description before booking.

Do you erase data from old computers?

Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away. Completion photos confirm the pickup, not data destruction.Official guidance

Can I book one box of old cables and small electronics?

Yes. Box of electronics is an existing option for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. A monitor, desktop computer and printer each have their own item option. Send a photo before booking for a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries so we can confirm the fit.

Where can a Springfield household take a television or computer?

To Complete Electronics Recycling at 2935 W. Chestnut Expy, which charges a per item rate for televisions and monitors, including CRT sets, and accepts computers, laptops, printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, phones, tablets, gaming systems and cables free. The city recycling centers do not take electronics, their bins are limited to aluminum, cardboard, glass, paper, plastic, tin and limited yard waste, and the landfill's guide sends appliance and specialty questions to the city Waste Wizard.Official guidance

How do I check one odd item before the trip?

Use the city's Waste Wizard, the searchable tool the city points residents to for repurposing, recycling and donation options in Springfield. The landfill's own guide sends appliance and specialty questions there, and the recycling brochure describes it as the place to find participating businesses for items the city centers do not take.Official guidance
