Appliances and tires are the two programmes that need a call
Metal appliances are collected by appointment at no charge when the request reaches the Solid Waste Division before 4 p.m. on Tuesday for a Wednesday collection. Tires are picked up on Wednesday too, but the request has to be in before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, the pickup takes up to five tires, and each resident is limited to two pickups a year.
The regular collection day only changes when it falls on or after one of the five holidays the city observes: New Year's Day, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. When that happens, collection moves to the following collection day.
