Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Remodeling and construction debris

Special rules apply

The Citizen's Convenience Center refuses construction and remodeling debris and the town policy keeps the facility closed to contractors, builders and do-it-yourself builders. Wake County takes household construction debris from the homeowner only, with verification, at selected convenience centers.

City cost & eligibility
Neither Cary nor Wake County publishes a household construction debris rate on the pages read. The Cary center refuses the material, Wake County accepts it only from a homeowner with verification at certain sites, and anything larger is a private hauler or permitted facility arrangement.
When & how
Take a homeowner load to a participating Wake County convenience center, which is open daily 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and confirm the verification requirement before traveling.
Get it ready
Keep construction debris out of the Cary loads, separate clean wood from concrete and soil where the receiving site asks, and never mix in paint, chemicals or treated lumber, which are refused at these sites.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

The convenience center changes on January 1, 2027

Cary says the Citizen's Convenience Center stays open as usual through December 31, 2026, and that from January 1, 2027 only the food and yard waste drop-off remains because the North Carolina Railroad needs the right-of-way. For everything else the town points residents to the Wake County Multi-Material Recycling Facility on Old Smithfield Road in Apex and the Wake County Convenience Center on Aviation Parkway in Morrisville, where county fees may apply, and it confirms that curbside collection is not affected.

Use a Wake County convenience center

A household with up to two mattresses, a homeowner's small construction load, scrap metal or bulky household material.

Wake County publishes no per load rate for household material at its convenience centers, and it charges a processing fee when additional mattresses go to the South Wake Landfill shredder. Confirm the current terms with 919-856-7400 before a large trip.
Arrange it
Drive to a participating site, such as Site 2 at 6120 Old Smithfield Road in Apex, Site 3 at 266 Aviation Parkway in Morrisville or Site 4 at 3600 Yates Mill Pond Road in Raleigh, open daily 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and be ready to show residency.

Electronics are accepted only at sites 1, 4 and 11 on weekends, mattresses only at sites 1, 2, 4, 7 and 11 with a two per day limit, and household construction debris only from the homeowner with verification. Take paint, batteries and chemicals to Wake County

A household with latex or oil based paint, batteries, solvents, thinners, propane tanks, fluorescent tubes, pesticides or other household chemicals.

Cost & conditions
This route takes household paint and chemicals, not construction debris. Wake County publishes no fee for the household hazardous waste facilities and restricts them to residents with no business waste, so confirm the current terms and limits with 919-856-7400.
Arrange it
Drive to the South Wake facility at 6150 Old Smithfield Road in Apex, open Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or to the North Wake or East Wake sites on their published days, and stay with the vehicle.

Waste from commercial or business vehicles, professional use products, ammunition, asbestos, car batteries of the lithium or metal hydride type and explosives are refused. Antifreeze, motor oil, transmission fluid, hydraulic oil, power steering fluid and oil filters are collected at the multi-material recycling facilities instead, and there are limits such as 10 gallons of latex paint, 6 lead acid batteries and 12 fluorescent tubes.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Cary residents have two ways to move bulky material themselves and one date to plan around. The Citizen's Convenience Center at 313 N. Dixon Ave. takes residential bulky items, recyclables, food waste and yard waste, and recycles appliances and electronics for a fee paid on site, but it refuses construction and remodeling debris, paint, motor oil, oil filters, tires, propane tanks, shingles, stumps, treated lumber, pallets, dirt, rocks, concrete and car batteries, and it does not admit commercial or contractor loads, box trucks or enclosed trailers. The town says the center keeps operating as usual through December 31, 2026, and that from January 1, 2027 only the food and yard waste drop-off remains, with Wake County facilities named as the replacement. Those county options are the South Wake Multi-Material Recycling Facility at 6130 Old Smithfield Road in Apex for appliances, electronics, antifreeze, motor oil and oil filters, the Wake County Convenience Center Site 2 at 6120 Old Smithfield Road for up to two mattresses a day, homeowner construction debris with verification and scrap metal, and the South Wake Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 6150 Old Smithfield Road for paint, batteries, solvents and garden chemicals. Curbside carts, yard waste and the special collection request through 311 are not affected by the change. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in cary.

How much does construction debris removal cost in cary?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in cary?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.
