Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Matthews has an on-call curbside bulk service rather than a set collection day. Household items too large for the garbage cart, non-spoilable, are collected on the regular trash day once the pickup is booked and paid for.
Tires are banned from North Carolina landfills and refused by the curbside collection, so they go to a Mecklenburg County full-service center, where the first few are free and the rest are charged per tire.

Curbside bulk service in Matthews is on call, so call Waste Pro at 980-325-3640 to schedule and pay for the pickup, then set the items out for the household's regular trash day. Keep the pile clear of the garbage and recycling carts, sidewalks, hydrants and mailboxes, and take the carts back in by midnight. Extra bags of garbage are collected only in the weeks after Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

Yes. Every residential vehicle displays an entry sticker, and the blue rectangle sticker is free to Mecklenburg County residents and does not expire. It is issued at the cashier booth at each full-service center. A vehicle without a sticker is charged at the out-of-county rate, which is an annual badge.
