Weekly bulky waste, extra bags and move-outs

Bulky waste is the second truck on every route. It takes extra bags of garbage, move-out piles, patio furniture, bicycles, bagged clothing, broken-down cardboard, grills under the weight limit and lawnmowers with the fuel removed, all at no extra charge on the regular collection day. Pallets are banned in North Carolina and the town does not collect them. For a whole-garage clean-out the town also runs a free residential dumpster within a seasonal window.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Households on the town collection route. The weekly bulky pickup carries no extra charge and needs no appointment, and the residential Dial-A-Dumpster service available to residents is also provided at no cost, with its own seasonal and content limits.
When & how
Bulky items and excess bags go out on the household's own trash collection day, at least three feet from the roll-out container, and the crew may take three to five days to reach a large item. A Dial-A-Dumpster is requested in advance, stays for a maximum of seven days and is not available from November 1 to January 1.

The county gates need a decal or proof of residency

The Iredell County sites are funded by county taxpayers and cannot accept material from non-residents, so a household needs the annual windshield decal mailed with the August property tax statement, or proof of residency such as a driver's license with a current vehicle registration, utility bill or loan closing papers. Arrange it

Arrange it

Drive to 354 Twin Oaks Road in Statesville on the last Saturday of the month between 8 and 11:30 am, with no pre-staging on the site. The facility is closed in December, and the directions on the county page send vehicles past the scale to the appliance area.

The collection runs on one morning a month rather than continuously, so a household holds the material until the date. Latex paint that is no longer flowable does not have to wait: it can be dried and put in the household trash. Remodeling-level quantities of paint or contractor waste are outside the event.
