The right sofa. The right price.

Count the sections, not the cushions.

A loveseat, a sleeper and a sectional can look similar in a photo. Match the shape and features so your online price covers what is actually going.

Three structural sectional modules slightly separated, with all cushions remaining on their bases.
This example has three structural sections. The cushions do not add to the count.

A straight sofa or loveseat

Choose Standard sofa for fixed seats with no pull-out bed or reclining mechanism. One whole sofa is one item.

A sectional

Count its structural sections, not the loose cushions. Choose the piece count, then check for a sleeper or reclining feature. One sectional booking covers the configuration you select.

A pull-out bed or reclining seats

Choose Sleeper sofa or Reclining sofa for those mechanisms. A single reclining chair has its own Recliner choice. All sofa types also includes futons and sofas with a chaise.

Couches, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Mooresville takes furniture on the bulky truck that runs the same route as the garbage every week. Couches, chairs, desks, dressers, tables and entertainment centers are named in the town bulky list, the pickup costs no extra charge and there is nothing to schedule, and the piece has to be empty before it goes out.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Households on the town collection route. Bulky waste is picked up every week on the household's own trash collection day at no extra charge and the town asks for no appointment. A piece that the town does not treat as bulky goes to the county transfer station instead, where its own fees apply.
When & how
Put the piece out with the regular garbage on the collection day. The town sends a separate bulk truck, and the page warns that large items can take three to five days to be collected, so nothing should be added to the pile after the truck has been through.
Get it ready
Empty the furniture and tape any glass, as the town asks for china cabinet hutches and entertainment centers. Disassemble anything large or heavy before it goes out, and set it at least three feet from the roll-out container and away from overhead lines, parked cars, mailboxes and other obstacles so the arm can reach both.

Weekly bulky waste, extra bags and move-outs

Accepted with preparation

Bulky waste is the second truck on every route. It takes extra bags of garbage, move-out piles, patio furniture, bicycles, bagged clothing, broken-down cardboard, grills under the weight limit and lawnmowers with the fuel removed, all at no extra charge on the regular collection day. Pallets are banned in North Carolina and the town does not collect them. For a whole-garage clean-out the town also runs a free residential dumpster within a seasonal window.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Households on the town collection route. The weekly bulky pickup carries no extra charge and needs no appointment, and the residential Dial-A-Dumpster service available to residents is also provided at no cost, with its own seasonal and content limits.
When & how
Bulky items and excess bags go out on the household's own trash collection day, at least three feet from the roll-out container, and the crew may take three to five days to reach a large item. A Dial-A-Dumpster is requested in advance, stays for a maximum of seven days and is not available from November 1 to January 1.
Get it ready
Keep the pile to what the page lists: empty appliances and furniture, empty and broken-down boxes, bagged clothing, disassembled large items, grills under the weight limit without propane tanks, lawnmowers without gasoline or batteries, mattresses and patio furniture. Carpet, concrete, construction debris, dirt, electronics, flammable items, mulch, rocks, tires and pallets do not belong in it, and a dumpster load may contain yard waste or household waste but never both.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Three feet around the cart, and a closed lid

Everything goes at least three feet from the roll-out container and three feet from mailboxes, cars and other obstructions so the automated arm can reach the can. The lid has to close completely, nothing may be pushed down or packed above the rim, and bulky items or excess bags wait on the ground three feet away from the cart rather than beside it.

Bag the trash, and break down the boxes

All garbage goes in tied plastic bags inside the town roll-out container, and everything stays bagged so it cannot blow around the neighborhood. Cardboard is flattened for recycling, because the town collects an unflattened box as garbage, and oversized boxes are flattened and stacked beside the recycling cart instead of left loose at the curb.

Empty the item and take it apart before it goes out

Appliances and furniture have to be empty, and the town asks residents to disassemble swing sets, pool tables, basketball goals and anything else large or heavy before it reaches the curb. Concrete goes with none of it: a basketball goal base has to be removed, and anything fully or partially encased in concrete is not collected.

Use the weekly bulky waste truck

A household with a couch, a mattress, an empty appliance, extra bagged garbage, a move-out pile or another item the town lists as bulky.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Households on the Mooresville collection route. The town states that bulky waste is picked up every week on the specified trash collection day at no extra charge, with no need to schedule, and the separate bulk truck handles the items.
Arrange it
Set the items at the curb on the regular trash day, at least three feet from the roll-out container and away from overhead lines, parked cars and other obstacles. The automated side-loader empties the cart and the second truck collects the bulky pile.

Large items can take three to five days, so nothing should be added to the pile after the truck has passed. Appliances and furniture must be empty, glass has to be taped, and carpet, concrete, construction debris, dirt, electronics, flammable items, mulch, rocks, tires and pallets are not accepted on this route.

Open the Mooresville bulky waste page

Town of Mooresville Sanitation Department with Iredell County Solid Waste facilities

Call for a residential Dial-A-Dumpster

A household cleaning out a garage, a shed or an attic, or cutting far more yard debris than the weekly route can carry.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Residents of the town who call ahead to confirm availability. The booklet describes the residential-only service as provided at no cost, with the dumpster held for a maximum of seven days.
Arrange it
Call the sanitation department in advance and have the dumpster placed in the driveway, never in the yard or the street. The container may hold yard waste or household waste, but not both in the same load, and co-mingling can leave the load on the site.

The service is not available from November 1 to January 1. Barrels, carpet and padding, construction debris, contractor debris, electronics, glass, paint, painted wood, pallets, shingles and vinyl siding are not allowed in a residential dumpster, and a contractor working at the address has to haul away its own debris.

Confirm the load at the gate or on 704-663-5314.
Arrange it

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Mooresville starts at the town gate and then goes to the county. Most of a clean-out never has to leave the curb, because the bulky truck on the weekly route takes furniture, mattresses, empty appliances, extra bags, move-out piles and patio furniture at no extra charge, and the town will place a free residential dumpster in the driveway for a larger job if the request is made in advance and the date falls outside November 1 to January 1. What the town refuses goes to Iredell County. The Mooresville Transfer Station at 158 Macleod Drive takes electronics, tires, white goods, brush and construction and demolition material Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 6:30 pm and Sunday from 2 to 6:30 pm, with a decal or proof of residency, an afternoon cut-off for commercial loads and a 6 pm cut-off for construction debris. Construction and demolition waste is charged by the ton there, CRT televisions and monitors by the unit, white goods and source-separated recyclables free, and household material free only for residents who have paid the county availability fee. Concrete, asphalt, brick, block, dirt, shingles, gravel and rocks are refused at Macleod Drive and go to the Twin Oaks facility at 354 Twin Oaks Road in Statesville, open weekdays from 7:30 am to 4 pm and Saturday from 8 am to noon, which is also where paint, pesticides, pool chemicals, aerosols and automotive fluids are collected on the last Saturday of the month from 8 to 11:30 am. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Couch removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Mooresville.

How much does couch removal cost in Mooresville?

A standard sofa is $79 as the first item and $29 additional. Sectionals, sleepers and reclining sofas have their own choices. Select everything that is going to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can you pick up my couch today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the couch outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We send pickup updates and photos when it is done; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.

How do I book a sectional for removal?

Open Sectional in the sofa choices, count its structural sections, and select any sleeper or reclining feature. Count the sections with their own bases, not loose cushions. The matching catalog choice covers one complete sectional of that configuration. Text a photo before booking if you are unsure.

Will you carry my couch out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. Arrange for the sofa to be moved through the apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load and haul it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Arrange any dismantling needed to get it outside beforehand.

Do I need to wait at home for couch pickup?

You do not need to be home when your booked sofa is outside and accessible. Add photos and pickup-location notes to your order so the right pieces are easy to identify. We send updates and completion photos. Confirm any building access restrictions with us before booking.

Does a couch go out with the regular garbage in Mooresville?

Yes, but on the second truck rather than in the cart. Couches are named in the town bulk waste list, the crew sends a separate bulk truck down the same route, and the pickup costs no extra charge with no appointment needed. Empty the piece first, and expect large items to take three to five days.Official guidance

What will not be collected with the bulky waste in Mooresville?

Carpet, concrete and concrete-based items, construction and demolition debris, dirt, mulch, rocks, bricks, auto parts and batteries, tires, electronics, flammable or explosive items and pallets are all refused. Electronics and tires have their own route to the Iredell County Transfer Station, and construction debris goes there by weight.Official guidance

Who handles trash and bulky item pickup in Mooresville?

The Town of Mooresville Sanitation Department, which is based at 2523 Charlotte Highway and can be reached on 704-663-7282. The town provides one roll-out garbage container per household paid through property taxes, collects garbage weekly and recycling every other week, and runs a second truck on every route for bulky items and excess bagged garbage.Official guidance

How do I get an extra garbage or recycling container in Mooresville?

Ask the town. A household gets one roll-out garbage container paid through property taxes, and additional garbage containers are available at an extra cost through the billing office on 704-663-3800. On the recycling side a household gets one cart after registering and may request a second at no charge, and a damaged cart is replaced when it cannot be dumped or rolled or when the body, handle, lid or wheels are broken.Official guidance

Can I get a dumpster for a big garage or yard clean-out?

Yes, within limits. Mooresville residents can call the sanitation department in advance for a residential Dial-A-Dumpster at no cost when the amount of material is more than the weekly route can carry. The container stays up to seven days, sits in the driveway, holds yard waste or household waste but never both, and is unavailable from November 1 to January 1. Construction debris, contractor debris, electronics, glass, paint, painted wood, pallets, shingles and vinyl siding are not allowed in it.Official guidance
