The DPW yard at 400 Jersey Avenue sits in the city's industrial west end near Route 18 — a notable drive from College Avenue, Easton Avenue, and the medical-district commuter housing without a car, which structurally reinforces paid-haul demand among the city's renter majority. The Second Saturday accepted list is "laptop, desktop and tower computers, monitors, printers, TVs, and fax machines" and only City residents qualify. Late April and early May the Rutgers off-campus turnover along Easton Avenue, Hamilton Street, Mine Street, and the 5th Ward floods curbs with flat-screens and monitors right after the May Second Saturday window has already closed. Multi-family residents on Albany Street and along Route 27 are usually surprised that their building's contracted hauler does not cover electronics — e-waste is excluded from MSW contracts because the load gets rejected at MCUA. The closest R2-certified drop-off is Newtech Recycling at 245 Belmont Drive, Somerset (Mon–Fri 8 a.m.–4 p.m.), reachable via Easton Avenue and I-287 Exit 6/7. Best Buy in East Brunswick (~5 mi via NJ-18) does not take TVs in-store at all in New Jersey.
