Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

Televisions, monitors and printers

Accepted with preparation

Televisions, monitors, printers and fax machines are not part of the curbside bulk route. The city takes them from residents at the Second Saturday drop-off at 400 Jersey Avenue.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no separate fee for the Second Saturday drop-off and asks residents to come on the day with the item. Confirm the current arrangements with the Division of Recycling at 732-745-5059 before a trip, and note that the state requires these devices to be recycled rather than landfilled.
When & how
Bring the screen to the Department of Public Works at 400 Jersey Avenue on the second Saturday of the month between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. County residents can bring paint products to the same event.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from anything that powers on, keep electronics out of the trash and the recycling cart, and confirm the device is on the accepted list. Staples takes printers, computers, monitors and fax machines but not televisions, and the county household hazardous waste days refuse televisions outright.

Use the Second Saturday event and prepare county loads

Electronics and paint go to the Department of Public Works at 400 Jersey Avenue on the second Saturday of the month between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., with electronics accepted from city residents and paint from county residents. Every paint container must be labeled. At a county household hazardous waste day, load the material in the trunk or truck bed so it cannot roll or spill, keep containers to 10 gallons or less, and stay in your vehicle.

City of New Brunswick Department of Public Works and Middlesex County Division of Solid Waste Management

Second Saturday electronics and paint drop-off

Televisions, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines and paint products brought to the Department of Public Works once a month.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes no separate fee for the Second Saturday drop-off. Confirm the current arrangements with the Division of Recycling at 732-745-5059 before a trip.
Arrange it
Come to 400 Jersey Avenue on the second Saturday of the month between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Electronics are accepted from city residents, and paint products including latex and oil based paint, varnishes, lacquers, thinners, aerosol spray paint and driveway sealer are accepted from county residents.

Paint containers must all be labeled, empty containers and dried out latex paint are refused, and no commercial or industrial paint waste is accepted. Televisions and other electronics are refused at county household hazardous waste days, so a screen has to come to this event or to a recycler the county names.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

New Brunswick runs its own twice-a-week trash, alternate-week recycling and appointment-based bulky collection, and the appointment is what unlocks a curbside pickup for furniture, mattresses, appliances, scrap metal and brush. Televisions and other electronics are dropped off at the Department of Public Works on the second Saturday of the month, where county residents can also bring paint. Tires, household hazardous waste, cooking oil and textiles stay on the county side of the system, with rotating hazardous waste days and four tire centers, and construction or demolition material cannot go out at all without permission from the Director of Public Works. 2026 trash and recycling scheduleTrash and recycling informationElectronics and paint drop-offCounty recycling programs and events

City drop-off

New Brunswick Department of Public Works

400 Jersey Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ

Televisions, monitors, printers and fax machines, along with laptop, desktop and tower computers.

City residents only, on the second Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 400 Jersey Avenue. The county household hazardous waste events refuse televisions, so this is the local route, and a screen should never go in the trash or the recycling cart.

Second Saturday of each month, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., for electronics and paint. Used motor oil is taken at the central garage Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The city publishes no separate fee for the Second Saturday drop-off or for the motor oil service. Confirm the current arrangements with the Division of Recycling at 732-745-5059 before a trip.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in New Brunswick.

How much does TV removal cost in New Brunswick?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in New Brunswick?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where can I drop off a TV in New Brunswick?

At the city's Second Saturday drop-off at 400 Jersey Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. Televisions are on the list of electronics accepted from city residents, along with laptop, desktop and tower computers, monitors, printers and fax machines. The county household hazardous waste days do not accept televisions, so the city event is the local route.Official guidance

How does bulk pickup work in New Brunswick?

By reservation. Every bulk pickup has to be scheduled online through the city's bulk item form, and the items are then collected at the curb in front of the property on the confirmed day. The city names mattresses, box springs, sofas, tables and dressers as bulk furniture, and washers, dryers, grills and bicycles as the metal it takes. Some addresses are not on the city list because a private company services the property.Official guidance

Where do paint and chemicals go in New Brunswick?

Paint products, including latex and oil based paint, varnishes, lacquers, thinners, aerosol spray paint and driveway sealer, can be brought to 400 Jersey Avenue on the second Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. by county residents, with every container labeled. Anything else in the household hazardous waste stream goes to a Middlesex County household hazardous waste day, which also takes rechargeable and button cell batteries with the terminals taped.Official guidance
