Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not named in the city bulk definition or on the flyer list, so a treadmill or weight machine is a question for the division rather than an assumed acceptance. The bulk service is described as covering furniture and household appliances, and the flyer names refrigerators, stoves, beds and furniture as the large items that must be reported.
City cost & eligibility
No exercise machine rate is published, and the city publishes no fee for the bulk special pickup either, so confirm the machine and any charge with the Division of Solid Waste on 609-989-3175 on a weekday before it goes out.
When & how
If the division confirms the machine for the special pickup, keep it off the curb until the pickup is arranged, and remember that only five items go in a single pickup. The ordinary collection still requires garbage out by 7 a.m. on the collection day and no earlier than 10 p.m. the night before.
Get it ready
Strip the machine down as far as it will come apart and take the console off the frame so it can be handled. Keep loose batteries out of the garbage, because batteries are not named as an accepted curbside item anywhere, and keep the machine clear of the cans and the recycling buckets.

The city publishes the special pickup, the scheduling number and the five item limit but no rate for the service, so confirm the load and any charge with the Division of Solid Waste on 609-989-3175 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays.
Arrange it
Call 609-989-3175 on a weekday to report the items and book the pickup, and keep the pile off the curb until the arrangement is made. Mattresses have to be bagged first, with up to two bags per household per year available at the solid waste office on 707 Calhoun Street between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
No more than five items are collected at one time, and every bag or can that goes out on the ordinary round is capped at 50 pounds. Trash cannot go in a recycling bucket, and material placed out on a legal holiday may bring a fine, so the pile has to be timed around the holiday calendar.
