It is not a curbside pile on the ordinary round: a resident reports the piece to the Division of Solid Waste and the city arranges a special pickup.

The city publishes the bulk special pickup and how to arrange it but no fee for it, so confirm the piece and any charge with the Division of Solid Waste on 609-989-3175 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. Nothing describes a minimum quantity or a charge for a single sofa.
When & how
Call 609-989-3175 on a weekday to report the piece and book the special pickup, and keep it off the curb until the pickup is arranged. The ordinary collection round still runs, and garbage has to be out by 7 a.m. on the collection day and no earlier than 10 p.m. the night before.
Get it ready
Keep the furniture separate from the garbage cans and out of the recycling buckets, because the flyer warns that trash placed in recycling buckets will not be picked up. Keep the piece under the 50 pound limit that applies to any can or bag at the curb if it is going out as bagged rubbish instead, keep the pile to five items at most because that is the one time limit the city publishes, and keep living room clutter clear of the sidewalk while it waits.
