Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and other electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are refused in the curbside cart, so a television or computer leaves through WM's At Your Door collection, a city e-waste drive or the county landfill, which prices a television as its own line.

City cost & eligibility
$33 per television at the Sandoval County Landfill, where televisions carry their own line on the rate table. Any customer delivering to the county landfill scale, with payment by cash or business check. WM's At Your Door collection and the city e-waste drives have their own terms and are confirmed with the operator rather than priced from a published table.
When & how
Book WM's At Your Door collection, take the device to a city e-waste event, or drive the load to the Sandoval County Landfill during its open hours and tarp it.
Get it ready
Remove personal data from anything that still powers on, keep the device whole, and keep electronics out of the cart and out of the recycling cart. At Your Door mails a collection kit and the items go to the front door or outside the garage before 7 a.m. on the pickup day.

What the recycling cart takes, and what it does not

The city's recycling list covers aluminium cans and foil, brown paper bags, empty aerosol cans, flattened cardboard, junk mail, magazines, newspapers, office paper, paperboard, phone books, pie tins, plastics numbered one to seven and steel cans. Glass bottles and jars and plastic bags are not accepted, and glass has its own free drop-off at the Rio Rancho Landfill on Carpenter Street.

At the county scale the load has to be tarped

The Sandoval County Landfill on Iris Road is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., a load larger than a standard pickup has to be in the gate before 3:30 p.m., and payment is cash or a business check only. Every load has to be tarped or a no tarp fee is added, and the household hazardous waste collection at that site is suspended.

Book a bulk pickup with Waste Management

A household with a couch, a mattress, an appliance or another heavy item that will not fit in the cart and that it would rather not haul itself.

Cost & conditions
WM publishes no flat rate because pricing and available options vary by area and depend on what and how much is being collected. The agent gives an estimate before the pickup is scheduled, so confirm the price for the exact items before booking.
Arrange it
Log in to My WM and use the bulk item pickup action from the services page, or speak to an agent, describe the items and accept the estimate before the pickup day is set.

Acceptance varies by area and the pickup covers bulk and heavy household items rather than a whole property cleanout. Construction waste, auto parts, tires, hazardous waste and electronic or medical waste are refused in the regular service, and hazardous waste has a separate collection route.

Self-haul to the Sandoval County Landfill

A household or small contractor with a bagged load, furniture, an appliance, a mattress, a television, concrete or a pile of construction debris.

Cost & conditions
From $1 per bag at the Sandoval County Landfill, where a bagged load is capped at four bags and larger loads move to the bed level, above bed level, truck trailer, per ton and per item rates. Any customer delivering to the county scale, with payment by cash or a business check only. Tires are limited to four passenger tires per trip, recycling items are free, clean fill is free, and a no tarp fee is added to an untarped residential or commercial load.
Arrange it
Tarp the load, drive to 2708 Iris Rd NE on a weekday or Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. with any load larger than a standard pickup in the gate before 3:30 p.m., and check in at the scale.

Household hazardous waste is not accepted while the county collection is suspended, and biomedical waste, sharps, ammunition, flares, fireworks, propane tanks, burn barrels or ashes, commercial and industrial hazardous items, metal frame demolition with concrete, concrete larger than three feet and vehicle bodies or trailers are all refused.

Arrange the At Your Door collection for problem items

A household with electronics, paint, motor oil, pool chemicals, batteries or other problem material that no longer has a county drop-off.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes the route rather than a price, so call WM to find out what the collection costs and which of the household materials it will take at a Rio Rancho address before a kit is ordered.
Arrange it
Call 1-800-449-7587 on a weekday between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., or use wmatyourdoor.com, to check the items and schedule the collection, then follow the mailed kit and set the labeled items out before 7 a.m. on the pickup day.

The service covers household problem materials that the cart and the landfill cannot take, and it is only useful for a household that will label and stage the items itself. Where the material is a refrigerant appliance or a load of construction debris, the landfill routes apply instead.

Use a city e-waste recycling drive

A household with a television, computer or small electronic device that can wait for one of the city's scheduled collection events.

Cost & conditions
The city does not publish a price for the drives, and the accepted and prohibited items vary between them, so check the event flyer before loading a device.
Arrange it
Drive to the senior center hosting the event on its date and unload the items yourself, since the drives are self-service.

The drives run for a few hours on their dates only, are hosted with Rio Rancho Senior Services, and each one has its own accepted and prohibited list. Remove personal data from a device before handing it over.

Self-hauling in Rio Rancho means choosing between two landfills. The Rio Rancho Landfill at 1132 Carpenter Street NE is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and it gives each Rio Rancho WM household one free load of up to 1,000 pounds a month against a driver's license and a current WM bill, with a maximum of four tires, unlimited free clean dirt and free cardboard and glass recycling, and with hazardous waste, Freon appliances, bulk liquids and business waste refused. The Sandoval County Landfill at 2708 Iris Rd NE is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., charges by the bag, the bed level, the trailer and the ton, prices appliances, mattresses and televisions as their own lines, takes concrete, stumps and construction debris with the asbestos and pre-1980 inspection conditions, and requires every load to be tarped with cash or a business check for payment. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Rio Rancho.

How much does TV removal cost in Rio Rancho?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Rio Rancho?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Rio Rancho?

They cannot go in the trash cart, because electronic waste is refused there. WM's At Your Door Special Collection takes electronics along with paint, oil, pool chemicals and batteries, the city runs e-waste drives at the senior centers, and the Sandoval County Landfill charges televisions as their own line on its rate table.Official guidance

Is there still a household hazardous waste drop-off?

Not at the county landfill, where the household hazardous waste collection is suspended and hazardous waste is listed as not accepted. The city routes paint, motor oil, pool chemicals, batteries and electronics to WM's At Your Door Special Collection, which is arranged by phone or online and mails a collection kit.Official guidance

What cannot go in the curbside cart?

Construction waste, auto parts, tires, household hazardous waste such as paint, oil and household cleaners, and medical or electronic waste are all refused in the curbside service, and the load has to be bagged with the lid closed. The city's recycling list also refuses glass bottles and jars and plastic bags, and glass has its own free drop-off at the Rio Rancho Landfill.Official guidance
