Couch & furniture removal in Rio RanchoCity collection Sofas, furniture items and cabinets are named by the city's hauler as bulk items, so a couch is booked with WM rather than left beside the cart. A household that would rather drive the piece itself can use its one free monthly load at the Rio Rancho Landfill. The bulk pickup is priced by WM at the time it is scheduled, based on the item and the volume, so no rate is published in advance. The self-haul alternative is the free monthly residential allowance at the Rio Rancho Landfill, with the gate rate applying to anything over the published weight allowance.

Mattress & bed removal in Rio RanchoCity collection WM names mattresses and box springs among the common bulky items it collects, and the Sandoval County Landfill prices a mattress as its own line rather than by weight, so a Rio Rancho household has both a pickup route and a self-haul route. From $12.5 per mattress at the Sandoval County Landfill, where beds carry their own per piece rate instead of the per ton rate. Any customer delivering to the county landfill scale, where payment is cash or a business check. A WM bulk pickup is quoted by WM when it is scheduled rather than priced from a published table, and the free monthly residential allowance at the Rio Rancho Landfill also covers a mattress inside its weight limit.

Appliance pickup in Rio RanchoCity collection A unit that holds refrigerant is the one appliance with a printed prohibition in Rio Rancho: the Rio Rancho Landfill refuses appliances with Freon, so the county landfill, which prices appliances without stating an exclusion, has to be confirmed for the unit. No published rate covers a refrigerant unit on its own. The county landfill prices appliances per unit on its rate table but does not state whether it takes a unit that still holds refrigerant, the Rio Rancho Landfill prohibits appliances with Freon outright, and a WM bulk pickup is quoted when it is booked, so call the county landfill on 505-867-0814 or WM on 505-892-1200 before the unit leaves home.

Bags & household clutter in Rio RanchoCity collection Every household in Rio Rancho has the same residential hauler. The city selected Waste Management, WM supplies one 96 gallon gray cart, and trash is collected weekly from that cart. A household sets up its own WM profile so service and billing are in its own name. The city page publishes the service and the free landfill benefit rather than a monthly rate, and WM bills the household directly once the profile is set up. Additional carts are available for a fee, and material that overflows the cart may draw an extra charge or be left behind, so confirm the current rate and the extra container cost with WM on 505-892-1200.

The local disposal guide
Rio Rancho does not run its own collection crews: the city selected Waste Management, and a household sets up its own WM profile for the gray cart, the recycling and the bill. WM picks up trash every week and takes bulky items by request, and the city adds a benefit of its own, a free monthly trip to the Rio Rancho Landfill on Carpenter Street for approved residential waste. Anything WM will not take in the cart moves to one of two county-priced gates: the Rio Rancho Landfill, which refuses appliances that hold Freon, and the Sandoval County Landfill on Iris Road, which publishes a flat and per ton rate table for bagged loads, appliances, mattresses, televisions, concrete and construction debris. Household chemicals are the awkward case. The county hazardous waste collection is suspended, so paint, oil, pool chemicals and batteries go through WM's At Your Door collection instead.

Every household in Rio Rancho has the same residential hauler. The city selected Waste Management, WM supplies one 96 gallon gray cart, and trash is collected weekly from that cart. A household sets up its own WM profile so service and billing are in its own name.
WM takes bulk or heavy trash that is not suitable for the regular cart, and a Rio Rancho household asks for it through its My WM profile or through a WM agent. The city also gives every household one free monthly load at the Rio Rancho Landfill for approved residential waste.
Sofas, furniture items and cabinets are named by the city's hauler as bulk items, so a couch is booked with WM rather than left beside the cart. A household that would rather drive the piece itself can use its one free monthly load at the Rio Rancho Landfill.
WM names mattresses and box springs among the common bulky items it collects, and the Sandoval County Landfill prices a mattress as its own line rather than by weight, so a Rio Rancho household has both a pickup route and a self-haul route.
The Sandoval County Landfill prices appliances as their own line rather than by weight, so an appliance has a published self-haul rate. The Rio Rancho Landfill does not accept an appliance that holds Freon, so the route depends on what the unit contains.
A unit that holds refrigerant is the one appliance with a printed prohibition in Rio Rancho: the Rio Rancho Landfill refuses appliances with Freon, so the county landfill, which prices appliances without stating an exclusion, has to be confirmed for the unit.
Electronics are refused in the curbside cart, so a television or computer leaves through WM's At Your Door collection, a city e-waste drive or the county landfill, which prices a television as its own line.
Small devices and batteries leave through WM's At Your Door collection, which the city names for electronics and household hazardous waste, and the city places TerraCycle boxes for power strips and cords at every public library and at the Parks and Recreation desk in City Hall.
Construction waste is refused in the curbside cart, so a project load goes to the Sandoval County Landfill, which takes a bagged load, a bed level load or a per ton load and accepts construction and demolition debris with two printed conditions.
Exercise equipment is not named by the hauler's bulky list or by the county rate table, so a treadmill or a weight machine is confirmed with WM before it is set out, either as a bulk pickup or as a load at the county scale.
Household chemicals no longer have a county drop-off: the Sandoval County Landfill suspends its household hazardous waste collection, and it lists hazardous waste among the materials it refuses. The city directs residents to WM's At Your Door Special Collection instead.
The handoff matters
The gray cart goes to the street with the wheels against the curb by 6 a.m. on the collection day and comes back the same day. Everything is bagged inside it and the lid has to close, because overflow and material left outside may be charged or not collected, and the cart needs three feet of clearance from parked cars, mailboxes and anything else in the way.

The Sandoval County Landfill publishes a per mattress rate that is charged instead of the weight rate, and the load has to be tarped or a residential no tarp fee is added. The Sandoval County Landfill at 2708 Iris Rd NE charges appliances as their own line on its rate table. They cannot go in the trash cart, because electronic waste is refused there.
