The town gives residents three routes for electronics. E-waste can be dropped at the Homeowner Disposal Area in Merrick, taken to one of the 2026 e-cycling events, or collected from the kerb by a sanitation customer who arranges a special pickup.

Get it ready
Keep screens whole, bring proof of residency, and remember that witnessed shredding at the e-cycling days is first come first served and limited to five paper bags or boxes per trip. Electronic waste is not accepted at a S.T.O.P. hazardous waste event.
Household garbage goes to the kerb before 5 a.m. on the collection day and no earlier than 7 p.m. the night before. Cans may be no larger than 45 gallons, no can or bag may weigh more than 75 pounds, and cardboard boxes may not be used to hold refuse.
Furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, carpeting and other bulky items leave through a Special Pickup arranged on 516-378-8484, not with the weekly rubbish. The department gives the specific disposal instructions and placement when the pickup is booked.
